It's hard to begin at the beginning this week because
it's hard to tell when the parties began or ended. Party
goers have had a long weekend, with almost every group
on campus participating.
Columbia Hall's Open House on Wednesday night proved
to be a success, thanks to organizer and Dorm President
)enny Royal. Food and good music put everyone in the
right mood, and the introduction of the candidates helped
the students attending become better acquainted with those
people seeking office.
Friday night the Owl's Club hosted stragglers warming
up for the weekend. And it proved to be quite a warm-up.
Farrell's was the scene again on Saturday night. Some
times when you have a small group gathered you come up
with sonie mighty humorous things. M. L. can still be heard
yelling "'se much mouthwash, Crosson?".
The Pi Phi's played at their informal party on Saturday.
At least it might have been a Pi Phi party . . . or maybe
there were just a lot of Pi Phi's invited to the ATO party.
The PiNA's partied in their usual quiet style, while the
Phi )elt s went back to the good old days of the Twenties.
Bath, anyone?
Speaking of getting drenched . . . if you made it away
fron the SAE party even one quarter dry then you should
eonsider yourself lucky. French 75 was combined with
"Yard and a half"' this year, and prizes were given to the
talente(l girl: who could make the best (or maybe the
light st ) (ut fit it of barely ;a yard of material. Susan
IIwe 'Non the first prize, and Nay Owens won the booby
lrize. Graham gave the entire chapter his rendition of
(VerV song the nand came up with and poor Nancy failed in
her attempts at the seesaw.
Then there was the K A barbecue at Tommy Millikan's.
The fo,ld was great but it lillin't mix real well with the
assort metnt of beverages people were (Irinking. One good
th ing. it you wanted to get wet all you had to do was follow
the lead (t the "abul(us Four into the lake. "Who cares
about the Stupid watch." Greg Blatt should be thanked for
his efforts in pr,oViding the party with a real live combo. ...
The Phi Nap's held their annual beach weekend at the
Ocean F1rest 11otel in Myrtle Beach. Things got underway
with an oyster roast Friday night. Saturday night featured
a (lance in the Woodside Room with entertainment provided
by the F.xotics of Orangeburg.
Sig Eps held their first annual pledge-active softball
game last weekend. No one was quite sure of the score but
after the third inning who cared?
Phi Epsilon Pi also had their spring formal this week
end. The fun began on Friday with an informal party at the
hl l ('amp, highlighted by Frater Miles Moss' swim in the
ak. Saturday opened with a cocktail party in the Capital
',bana's VIP Suite and around the motel pool.
The ('hi Psi's held their annual Medallion Ball this week
cnI at the ('olumbia ( '(tuntry Club. On Saturday they all
took off for the beach, and it's really a wonder they ever
made it. Attraction of the wetgtend was Stuart Johnson's
(;et-Co01 1uick method. Fun.
During the weekend of April 15 a couple of ('hi Psi's
were "shining" in Athens, Ga.
Sig Ep's "C(heek of the Week" award went to President
HIill Ayre for c'ertain antics last weekend.
)bvilously it was a big weekend, long to be remembered
...and just think, it's already F'ridlay again.

Being founded at Monmouth
College is not the only thing
which these two sororities have in
common. Kappa and Pi Phi were
among the first three sororities
founded on 14 college campuses
across the country, and they cur
rently have chapters on 78 of the
same college campuses.
In addition to these common in
terests, each sorority has a Mon
mouth gavel. When Old Main, the
administration building at Mon
mouth, burned, the wife of the col
lege's president had gavels made
from part of the walnut stair rail
which remained. Pi Phi and Kappa
both received gavels made fr on
this wood. The Kappa gavel I.
now used at every installation and
national convention.
Kappa's and Pi Phi's first
"Monmouth D)uo" on the Cardhna
campus was highlighted with an e
exchange of sorority songs. M1 r.
