the regular season undefeated, de
moolished Zone I Monday night,

Ashley Taylor was high scorer
for Zone 1:3 with 25 points while
Keith ('row tossed in 24.
Zone 1:3 had whipped Zone 20 by
an 11-point margin earlier in the
season.
Because of a series of games to
decide the second place finishers
in each league, the fraternity
champion was not decided until
last night.
Four Teams
The four teams which competed
in the playoffs were Chi Psi, Sigma
Nu, Pi Kappa Phi and Phi Delta
Theta.
Sigma Nu sewed up second place
in its league with a narrow 15-4.1
win over Phi Kappa Sigma Tues
day night.

p o i n t s for the Phi Kaps while
Tommy Player added I.I. Sonny
Meetze was the high man for
Sigma Nu with 13 points.
Place In The Finals
Zone 20 won a place in the in
dependent finals with a 57-50 de
cision over Zone 18. Henderson
was the top scorer with 23 points.

throw League 11 into a tie situation
for second place.

T'o,urnament in Hampton today in
hope of picking up their tenth
win of the season against only one
lefeat.
The tournament, which will he
played over the nine hole Hamp
ton Course, will feature teams
from all South Carolina Colleges.

does not mean the Gamecocks
are to be taken lightly. Trhey

those were to perennially strong
teams.

of the season on Mlarch 25 when
they dlroppedl a '7-2 match to
Mlichigan State. I ess than a week
later, on Mlarich 30, they were de
featedl hy Clemson when they lost
the final doulIes match. Last
week they lost to another confer
enee opponent, Mlaryland; also a
5-I defeat.

Bobby Bryant pitched South Carolina into
.he ACC lead Tuesday as the Gamecocks
opped Clemson, 4-1.
The ace southpaw allowed orly four Tiger
rits as he gained his fourth victory of the
season without a loss.
It was Carolina's third straight confer
ance win as the Gamecock's outlasted de
Fending AC(' champ North Carolina, 6-5, in
17 innings on Saturday.
The first conference win was also credited
to Bryant as he held N. C. State to two runs

win.
The ('lemson win was the tenth straight
for the surging Gamecocks. It also broke a
12-game losing streak against ('lemson.
It was the first time a Carolina team has
beaten a ('lemson team coached by Pill Wil
helm.
"All three games were close. We got the
right combination of hits and luck," said
Powers.
