Puntin
(Continued from Page 9)
The new rule which states that
the interior linemen will have to
hold up until the ball is actually
punted means that the team will
have to have a punter who can
kick with a lot of height to pre
vent long returns.
There are some bright spots
though. Compared to last year
when Dietzel arrived at the con
clusion of spring practice, the
staff is now much better ac
quainted with the players' poten
tial and abilities.
The team is also In much better
physical condition than last year.
Players have been attending a
vol antary physical education class
since February and have under
taken a rigorous program of exer
cises and running.
Dietzel terms the backfield duo
of Ben Garnto and llenny Gallo
way a:: "as good a pair a; exists
in the ACC. They more than
proved themselves last year when
we had to call on them so often,
and they re -ponded brilliantly
(Galloway 58:) yards r.shing,
Garnto 440) despite the pounding
they took."
Another b a c k f i e I d stalwart
should be quarterback Mike Fair.
The coaches are also hopeful for
rhampionship performances from
such other halfback aspirants as
Wally Medlin, Rudy Holloman and
[lob Harris.
The 'Cocks are particularly
wealthy at fullback with no less
than four top flight prospects:
