For Students
According to a recent Internal
Revenue Service news r e I e a s e,
"Tax Tips for Students," students
are required to file a tax return if
they earn $600 or more. If they
earn less than $600 and taxes were
withheld from wages by their em
ployers, they should file a return
in order to obtain a refund.
Unmarried students who earned
less than $900 do not owe any
Federal income tax. They are en-,
titled to claim the usual $600 per
sonal exemption, plus a $300 mini
mum standard deduction.
Parents who furnish more than
one-half the cost of support for
their child who is a full-time stu
dent may also claim an exemption
on their tax return, unless the
child is married and is filing a
joint return.

obtained by contacting the nearest
Internal Revenue Service Office.

The conference will be held
