Reactions have been varied i
sity of Washington to a pro
Dean of Students to allow univ
to alter or abolish their hours
Reports by the University o
Daily show that dormitory
erally favor complete abolishn
women tend t o w a r d hours modi
fication, and housemothers a r e
against the whole idea.
The proposal came as a response
to an AWS request that women of
sophomore standing and above be
allowed to regulate their own
h o u r s. The dean surprised. the
campus with his p r o p o s a I that
women be allowed to vote on hour
regulations themselves.
If his proposal is approved, each
living group will be allowed to
establish its own hours, if any are
desired at all.
If women accept the proposal,
the University will be the only
large state university h e s i d e s
UCLA allowing voluntary abolish
ment of women's hours.
Curfew Violators
On Sem i-Probationi
Ohio Wenlevan Uliiversity has an
unusual method for treating women
students coming in at few minutes;
after their curfew.
A semi-probation ha. been estab
lished where the offender must come
in 15 minutes early her first night of
probation, 10 minutes the secoumn
and five minutes the third night.
"Tis measure will make the cred
aware of the time around closing
hours," commented Ellen Mad,on,
AWS judicial president.
