Lynda Day entered show busi
ness instead of college and Chris
topher George became an actor in
spite of his degree from the Uni
versity of Miami.
Miss D)ay and George, stars of
"The Gentle Rain," visited the Uni
versity campus last week to pro
mote their film. They met students
in the Russell 11 o u s e Cafeteria
where they answered questions and
autographed pictures.
Originally from San M a r c o s,
Texas, Miss D)ay recalled that she
had a scholarship to attend college
where she intended to begin a medi
cal career. Memories of a trip to
New York City were to) tantaliz
ing, however, so she gave up her
a c a d e m i c plans for what she
thought would be a modeling career
in the Northeast.
C h r i s George is from Miami,
Fla., where he earned a degree in
f i n a n1 e e from the University of
M i a i i. Since his graduation, it
would appear that he has, for the
most part, ignored his diploma to
pursue an acting career.
Speaking to students informally
last T h u r s d a y, the performers
agreed that their first star movie
roles were part of an "h o n e s t
story." Filined on location in Rio
de Janeiro, Brazil, the movie re
quired four months of preparation
for 10 weeks of actual filming.
President of the IT n i v e r s i t y
iThonas F. Jones arrived to wel
conie the stars to USC and sug
rested jestingly that M i s s 1) a y
iremain here as a coed.
Lynda Day's modeling in New
York led first to television com
mercial appearances and then to a
sulorting role in the play "The
Devils" which starred Anne Han
croft and Jasoi Robards.
Presently her T.V. career con
sists of an impressive list of guest
apppearances on T.V. serials. At
least a few more such appearances
are planned for the future, to in
elude visits to "The Virginian" and
Hatman" sets.
Currently the s t a r uf T.V.'s

He played a gunfighter in the
