The play, set in S p a i n1, uses
Medieval and Renaissance theatri- r

Black Plague. Moreover, it em- /
phasizes symbolic characters and s
uses the e o n c e p t of time very 1
freely.
"Caligula," a play by the same I
author was originally planned for I
presentat,ion, but the turnout for )

that "State of Seige," a more dif
ficult play was chosen, levealed
:)r. Conrad Bishop, director of the
play.
l"There are a wild mixture of
styles," said Dr. Bishop. "Some
scenes in it are straight simple

expect in Romeo and Juliet. Others
are farcical, satirizing hour-eaticracy.

spectrum of dramat.ic style."
