Squirrels can be seen almost
anywhere around the Carolina
Campus at this time of year but
Bill Pawley, a USC student, insists
on carrying his own personal
"chatterbox" around with him
everywhere he goes.
Pawley, a dine jockey and the
Constinuity Director for WUSC, Caro.

squirrel presented to hint on Easter
niorning by Father Brown, the chap

Father Brown, found the baby squir

After much care and atten

and water, the little fellow came
around and began to develop his
new identity as a pseudo-human
being.
Tia'e squirrel was given the ianie

he can be found in the coat pocket
of his human father-image. lie is
now about six weeks old and has
become quite spoiled.
Francis' favorite foods are milk
shakes, Cokes, peanuts, crackers,
fried chicken and usually do-nuts
for breakfast. His big favorite is
butter pecan ice cream. When he
is in an epicurian mood, he in
sists on eating fingernail polish,
right off the fingernails of any
girl who happens to be handy.
Francis serves a useful purpose
to his adopted father. Ile performs
the services of an alarm clock with
great effectiveness. Unfortunately
the only time that he functions at
this capacity is at 5:30 a.m.
The biggest problem that the
squirrel has presented so far, ac
cording to his owner, is the pos
ibility that he may decide to
conic out for an exploring jaunt
in the middle of a lecture. Some
professors may not exactly relish
Lhe idea of having to compete
with a four - footed fur - coveredl
anin-l for the attention of the
class. So far the squirrel has
been well behaved during lectures
and has been, as a rule, more at
tentive and quiet than the average
student. Francis' unpredictability
turns up most effectively during
recording sessions on WUSC. A
