Speakers at the luncheon meet ing in Russell House's Assembly Room included University Presi dent Thomas F. Jones; W. R. Sar gent, director of alumni relations; William T. Jones of Greenwood, president of the Alumni Assn. The Rev. Lauren E. Brubaker, Jr., chaplain of the University and head of the department of Bible and religion, gave the invocation and benediction. The Phone-a-Thon campaign was established last year and was so successful in Richland County that the project became the model for those conducted in other counties of the state. This year a combined canvass, originating from Lieber College, will be held for Richland and Lex ington c o u n t i e s where many alumni are concentrated. The project will be conducted by women graduates, manning a bat tery of telephones, who will call alumni seeking their support. When an alumnus agrees to sup port the association and foundation with a check, a coed representing PanHellenic Council will call on the donor to pick up the contri bution. In addition to the Grand Prize, cash prizes in the amount of $75 and $50 will be given as second and third prizes, respectively. The acts this year will include ballet, guitar, folk singing, modern d a n c e, instrumentals and jazz. As in previous years, students who plan to enter the contest must fill out an application blank avail able at the Russell House informa tion desk. Rules applying to the contest are that all entrants must be Caro lina students and that a person may not enter more than one single and/or one group act.
