IHere Ai THE Crucible, USC's literary magazine, has announced its first meeting this semester in Room 202 in the Russell House on Monday, February 8, at 8:00 p.m. All in terested persons should attend. The editor of the Crucible. Richard Williams, has announced that the deadline for contributions for the spring issue is March 1. Students are encouraged to submit essays, fiction, poetry, play re views, book reviews, music reviews, art exhibit reviews, general philo sophical tracts, and art work. All efforts will be greatly appreciated and will be given consideration for publication. After the success of the winter issue, the Crucible staff is optimis tic over the planned spring issues. Gripes and suggestions from stu dent body are always welcome. . * * PRESS CLUB will eet today at 1 p.m. in one of the Russell House private dining roos. Rembert, a first semester senior from Columbia, Is also junior war den at the Episcopal center. Physicist For USC Dr. LeConte Cathey, a Senior Physicist at the Savannah River Laboratory, will conduct a course on "Instrumentation for Nuclear Research" for graduate students in the sciences here in the spring semester. The course, dealing with modern instrumentation for detecting and analyzing nuclear. radiations, is open to qualified students and will be taught two afternoons a week. His appointment as visiting pro fessor is part of a program of expanded cooperation with educa tional institutions on the part of the Savannah River Laboratory and the Division of Nuclear Edu Intramurals Will Begin On Wednesday The Intramural basketball sea son is tentatively scheduled to begin on Feb. 10 for independents and Feb. 15 for fraternities. Joining the Du Pont Com pany in 1951, he was first assigned to the research laboratories of the Company's experimental station in Wilmington, Delaware, and was one of the vanguard of Du Pont scientists who opened the Savan nah River Laboratory in 1962.
