PARTY TIME
Parties, parties, making whoo!
And Drinking Death of Pink
Parties! Parties! (Now they're Two)
How many of them do think?
ANOTHER PARTY t
Frankly, I am considering forming a third party: the
P. A. I.-The Plight of the American Indian-they seem to I
have been left out of the current moral issues over the|
Brotherhood of Man. Some men are more unequal than
others, but some aren't even citizens yet.
THE SOUTH IS A WOMAN t
Southerners feel about the Federal Government the same
way women feel about men: "We can't get along with 'em,
but we sho can't get along without 'em-(censored).
ADVICE TO THE WORD-WORN: OR A
GETTERING GLENERALITY
For those of you who like this columnist (a comma be
longs after who) are confused, but unlike myself, are regis
tered, Read. Seek answers! If you are for Barry, ask about
LBJ, and vice versa, not, of course, to seek THE TRUTH,
but so you can argue your own side with more pertinacious
acumen. By the way, best of luck on finding the truth-Mr.,
Webster has some difficulty in defining it.
PURPOSE (E-x-c-u-s-e)
A writer has the ethical-for once ethical rhymes with]
expedient-obligation to keep his own personal views out
of print: For the purpose of this column only I shall remain
a political chameleon, in order that I may maintain friends
and influence a sense of humor. "We laugh that we may ti
not weep."
YESTERDAY'S CHUCKLES
1) "The best TV debate would be Goldwater vs. Gold- 1
water." l
2) "Know how to make an LBJ Omelet? Wall, first you
got to steal six eggs....
3) Goldwater's answer as to what he would do in case
of nuclear attack: "I'd pull all the wagons in a circle.
4) Goldwater's reply as to the criticism given both can
didates by a high official in theological circles: "I came out I
ahead. That man just said I was stupid. He called Johnson "
a crook." s

I am a Christian. I smoke, curse,
rink, and in general, raise hell.
Vho am I? More than likely I
in you. That's right, you-and me,
nd a few thousand others just like
s on this campus and other cam
uses all over America.
Outside of my own group I can
uccessfully disguise myself in a
loak of Christianity which i- slo.d
rhenever there is no reason to
intinue the i Ii porsona ton. I
ometimes manage to camouflage
iyself so effectively that I even
nil to recognize what is hidden
eneath all of the superficial
iakeup myself. Rationalization is
sually an effective weapon to
envince myself that what I (10 is
11 right, and that I am cleansed
very seventh day.
This is all wrong, you say? You
o go to church on Sunday-some
imes? And you even manage to
-o to both services on Chritmas
nd Easter ?
I cannot quite bring myself to
>elieve that a sacrifice of one
eventh of the week, at the very
iost, makes me a Christian. Is
here a definite liine which is
rawn between Christianity and
"hatever is on the other side?

young woman was told who he

asked to step inside a bar where
men were drinking beer. They
continued to drink even though
they spoke so highly of him. Are
they Christians?
Christian or not, I continue to
wear my disguise, trying to fool
everyone, but fooling no one. We
recognize each other as to what
we are and no amount of conceal
ment can cover the fact that we
will act as our campus society
wills us to act. If I do not make
it to church this week, I can al
ways go next week. I can rest as

'64 Beat
In Trend
What is "the '64 Beat"? A head
to-toe look that begins like this:
kicky, pleated, high-rising skirts
(to top of knee) revealing long
stretches of textured stockings.
Spare little sweaters that cling
like T-shirts, in a myriad of new
details. The news of the pantsult,
in which the jacket takes a pair of
slacks or a skirt-length culotte.
Add these accessories: a hip-slung
dog-leash belt; a to-the-hem ex
panse of mohair muffler, wrapped
around, tossed around. Complete it
with ghillie shoes, a knitted fisher
man's watcheap, a shoulder-strap
bag. The total is ye-ye with the
stamp of "right now" that is your
