PIKA D, OUT OF THIRTY ENTREES graduate student at USC, ha1 hee finalists to be honored in the Pika PIKA Has Finalist I Miss Britt-Ingerd Rogeberg, 22, 1 a graduate student at the Univer sity of South Carolina, has been selected as one of the three final ists in the Pi Kappa Alpha Fra ternity National Dream Girl Con test. Miss Rogeberg, along with Miss Kathleen Barden, University of Arkansas, and Miss Judy Williams of the University of Mississippi, was chosen by a committee from m a field of thirty entries submitted E by Pi Kappa Alpha chapters C throughout the United States. Miss a Rogeberg was entered by Xi Chap ter at the University of South Carolina. Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity is C C recognized as one of the nation's outstanding national fraternities, having been founded in 1868 at the v University of Virginia. A native of Drammen, Norway, diss Rogeberg's home is Hardee ,ille, South Carolina. She is the laughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johna togeberg and is a member of the lethodist Church. At the University of South 'arolina, where Miss Rogeberg is rajoring in foreign languages, she as selected as Miss Garnet and lack (college yearbook), Miss :hevrons and Bars (A.F.R.O.T.C.), runner-up for Homecoming lueen, and was a member of the lay Court for two years. Miss Rogeberg served as presi ent of Sigma Delta Pi, national panish honor fraternity, Honor liploma recipient from the Uni ersity of Madrid and was on the lean's List. She speaks Spanish and Scandi avian, and is currently studying talian. Among her special interests are ewing (she makes most of her wn clothes), traveling, reading, orseback riding and swimming. At first one may be struck by I the superficiality of all this hustle bustle and may tiredly begin tc question the purpose it all forsees But to a true-and-blue member with the close ties of friendshiv and comradrie round a:out, th, purposes are easily recognized. Sororities and fraternities at Carolina uphold many ideals. They have many parties and social functions true, but they also spon sor everything from above averag,, grades, to giving parties and do nations to blind children and other charities. For the boys, as rush proceeds with it's parties and smokers and smokers and parties and backslaps -and bugs in the ear, the rushee mixLa Chi's and freiimen ao all en oeds Helped, Party Given has been planned when the Lambda Chi's will again turn out "en masse" to aid frosh coeds. In starting things out right for the Freshmen, a Labor Day party was also given at Barkoot's Pond where Dean and Mrs. Eugene Cooper and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barkoot served as chaperones. Softball and swimming were added to the entertainment provided in a musical lane by the Crescents. After all choices are made thor, is rarely one single type of gir' found to dominate in the choosinir One thing (oes hold true, and that is that each girl with the backin of her sorority is encouraged * take an active part in several of the many phases of life at USC. If at the end of rush you do not find yourself among the choser few, do not despair.
