Athens - The Carolina Game
cocks aren't likely to forget their
last performance in Georgia's
Woodruff Hall. Monday night the
Bulldogs established a new team
scoring record, defeating the
'Cocks 112-90 to atone for their
loss in Columbia a few weeks ago.
Facing a tight zone defense, the
Gamecocks tried desperately to
match the Bulldogs in the scoring
column but to no avail. With 11:45
left in the first period Carolina
took its only lead of the night on a
Ronnie Collin's jumper. Seconds
later Jimmy Pitts scored on a
drive and Georgia never trailed.
1,000 POINTS
And speaking of records, Game
cock forward Ronnie Collins sur
passed the 1,000-mark in career
scoring. His total now stands at 1
1,019 after scoring 22 Monday.
Not until the last three minutes
of the first period did the Game
cocks come alive. Center John
Schroeder and playmaker Terry
Lucansky combined efforts to give
the Birds eight points in less than
a minute of play, while narrowing
the score to 38-31 after being be

with 27 and was closely followed
by Jerry Waller and Charles Bag
