CAROLINA'S HOPE: Distance
runner, Alan Rose, will be put
upon against the Clemson Tigers to
score wins in the mile and 2-mile.
In his last meet the lad from
Down Under did just that with
smashing victories in both races.
Thus far this year he has run
4:17.6 in the mile and 9:47.9 in
e the 2-mile. Rose's most impres
sive showing was against Brown's
ace miler Dave Farley. Farley had
to drive himself the last 20 yards
to catch Rose in the home stretch.

ACC CHAMP: Sprinter, Jimmy
Wynn, is the ACC Dash Champion
indoors and outdoors. Last year
he ran a 9.7 to win the ACC Meet.
He has also been clocked in 21.4
in the 20-yd. dash. Wynn will

son's strong 440-yd. relay team.
Jimmy is just one of four excel
lent dashmen which the Tigers
have come up with this year. In
the Carolina Relays Clemson
placed four men in the finals of
the 100-yd. dash. Coach P. Wee
Greenfield is depending on his
sprinters to decide the outcome of
the meet with the Gamecocks.

Tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. the a

will get underway. The Tigers w
be coming to town with a boe
load of sprinters, an excellent fie
event man but not much else. Th(
apponents, the USC Gamecocl
have a little bit of everything b
not much depth overall.
Clemson will be depending on
sprinters, headed by ACC Char
Jimmy Wynn, to pile up enouj
points to offset the Tiger's wea
ness in the distance and middle d
tance events. Track predictio
favor a Clemson sweep in the 10

s Quartermiler Bland Addison will
ns be out to better his time. Thus far
e this year he has run faster in each
ld race as the season has progressed.
le His last time on the Carolina track
he turned in a very fast 49.6. An
ge other man to watch in the 440 is
d- John Hemmer. Out most of the

C. Virginia, Hemmer was not expected
as to do much, but he turned in a very
of fast 50.5 in that meet and could
ch push Addison.
