Men's Fashions
Take On New Look
Piling up points in popularity,
new pile linings, usually of fur
like acrylic fibers, provide excel
lent light insulation with a lofty,
:-onfortable feel. They covered by
iingle breasted shells of processed
Dacron and cotton. Knee-length
stadium coats with button fronts
and large pockets. A removable
hood for blustery days completes
the picture of fashion and warmth.
Black and white is the synonym
for contrast in rainwear colors
this fall. Raincoats will be seen
either in natural tan or off-white,
or in very dark olive or black.
Raglan styling and 40-inch lengths
are the most popular. Zip linings
make these campus favorites a

or in bright, bold solids.
This fist this year will be cov

Town Girls
Lounge
Are you a day student? Are
you a town girl? Are you an in
dependent? Would you like to
have a place other than the lobbies
af the women's dorms and the Rus
iell House to relax and just to be
casual among other girls? Well,
the "Y" has answered your re
quest.
A suite of rooms on the third
floor of Sims Dormitory has been
converted by the "Y" to serve as
a lounge for female town students
and independents. Rooms 354 and
356 on the west wing of Sims are
available as of this week all hours
of the day until the dorm closes
at night as a place for relaxation
as opposed to studying.
Facilities of the lounge include
a television set; a bridge table,
cards, and chairs; magazines; and
smoking facilities. The beds are
being converted into studio couches
and the "Y" is in the process of
obtaining curtains for the two
rooms.
Although sponsored by the
"Y," the creation of this lounge
was aided by Dean Clotworthy,
who donated the television set, the
Sims housemothers, who provided
the bedspreads, and the "Y" Ad
visory Board, who also contributed
to the furnishings.
Mary Carlton O'Neal, "Y" Camp
Chairman, is in charge of taking
care of the lounge and seeing that
it is used properly. The "Y" urges
all town girls and independents to
takc advantage of this opportunity
to relax at the expense of being
reasonably quiet and tidy.
Do You
Know
)o you know that we are still
getting letters from disgusted per
sons who are disgusted with us for
feeling the way we did when we
received a letter from a "disgusted
fraternity."
. . . That we hope some of the i
jubilent spirit will be canned to
morrow so that the alumni will not
feel that their fears have been
well founded.
. . . A certain letter (fraudulent
even) sent the "Gamecock" office
into a state of utter turmoil.
. . . That everybody wants their
news on the front page.
. . . There is an over abundance v
of boys without dates for the game I
tomorrow. r
. . . We must have organization. I
