Rush Begins Today With Registration Fall rush gets unto full swing i this week as candidates for fra ternity rush sign up today in the lobby of the Russell House. A fee ' of $2 is being charged to each f rushee. h In order to be able to pledge , any of the social fraternities on campus, a freshman or transfer student must have attained at least a "6" on his entrance exam. All Carlonia students must have at ti least a 2.00 average for the pre- d ceding semester. But all men are permitted to gu out for rush. d Tonight there will be a open h house on fraternity row from 6 to 10 p.m. Rushees must visit each a of the fraternity houses. Sorority rush will begin on e September 25 and 26 with registra- tj tion in the lobby of the Russell n House. The registration fee is $1. Dur ig the periods when Osce wasn' Ding either of these two thingi e attended school. In Columbia e attended Hand Junior High nd Dreher High School. Aftei )mpleting his high school educa on, Osce entered the army for siN ionths on a reserve training basis le then entered Carolina the fol >wing spring semester. At Carolina, Osce decided t( kajor in Civil Engineering, an< ledged Sigma Nu. In Sigma Nu e has served the fraternity in th( xpacity of Commander, Recorder nd now holds the office o: .lumni Contact Officer. He waE warded the Outstanding Pledg< ward. He has also served on the ,iterfraternity Council, and i resently a member of the IF( ribunal. Osce is also a member of th< merican Society of Civil Engi eers, Blue Key service fraternity nd KSK. He has served as at rientation Counselor, and was i iember of "Y." When asked if he'd had any em arrassing experiences, Osce re lied that in the past almost any iing that happened was embar xssing, but things are not tha ray any more "as I have almos ecome immune to such things." The Science Museum's openi exhibit this fall will be a par ramic display of the evolution Canada's West, sponsored by 1 E. F. Hagell, a native of Wq Canada. SWINGLINE STAPLER Sigma Nu Convention Held In Pittsburgh Delta chapter of Sigma Nu was represented this summer in Pitts burgh at the biennial Sigma Nu convention by three members of the local chapter. The convention was held in August. These dele gates were Lowrey MeNeel and Ned Self, both of Columbia, and Frank Willis, of Darlington. Over four hundred delegates from all over the United States attbnded this 40th Sigma Nu con vention, which had its head quarters in the Penn-Sheraton Hotel in the Golden Triangle of Pittsburgh. Registration was held on Monday, followed by a welcome address by a member of the Pitts burgh City Council who spoke for the mayor of the city. The na tional officers of the fraternity Were also presented at this meeting. The remaining three days of the convention consisted of business sessions and various entertainment that was planned for the dele gates. The Pittsburgh area alumni were hosts one day for all the delegates at a baseball game be Lwe-n tlhe Pittsburgh Pirates and the Chicago Cubs at Forbes Field. Other entertainment included a talent show that featured talent groups from campuses throughout the country. The music of Johnny Long's orchestra accompanied these students, who are acclaimed as some of America's best collegiate performers. Guest speaker at the closing banquet of the convention on Thursday was Dr. Perry E. Gresham, President of Bethany College in Pennsylvania. Virgil W. Duffie, of Greenwood and Columbia and a Delta chapter alumnus, represented South Caro lina as division commander at the convention.
