No, you won't be seeing double
at the football games this fall.
You will be seeing two shapely, but
distinctly individual blonds - the
Pritchard twins, Agnes and Sally.
Daughters of James Pritchard,
director of the USC Band, these
identical baton twirlers will be a
double feature this fall as they
perform with the Marching Game
cock Band.
Natives of Sumter, S. C., Agnes
and Sally were recently graduated
from Dreher High School and are

"It sure beats Maxcy" and "sheer
.cstasy" are among some of the
expressions of delight coming from
nany of the occupants of South
Building, the new women's dorrmi
;ory located behind Sims.
The height as well as the beau
'iful furnishings of this "hotel"
ire causing it to be a main topic
>f conversation on campus. The
en stories enable visitors to
,limpse the "Carolina skyscraper"
rrom various approaches to Co
lumbia. Once the campus is
reached the dormitory tower3 ia
all its glory.
A special feature of "the front
yard" Is a small fountain situated
)n an island. From here the huge
zlass doors and windows offer a
view of the interior of the lobby.
Here the decor of the individual
lounges includes paneled walls,
potted palms, handsomely uphol
stered furniture, and a view of
the stone terrace, which can be
used for outside dining purposes
as well as for mere relaxation.

not confined to twirling, as evi
denced by the fact that both have
become accomplished musicians.
Agnes plays the piano, clarinet,
and bassoon, while Sally specializes
on the French horn.
As freshmen the identicial sis
ters are looking forward to excit
ing and rewarding years at Caro
lina. According to Agnes, "Carolina
is a friendly school. It is im
possible for anyone to be unhappy
because there is an interest here
for everyone."
Although the Pritchards are
freshmen, they are not strangers
to the USC campus. For the past
three years they have substituted
in the Coquettes line and have
grown quite familiar with the life
in the Carolina Community.
As twins Sally and Agnes have
similar tastes and characteristics,
but prefer people to think of them
as two separate, individual per
sonalities - not as merely "the
Pritchard twins." Often they also
find themselves thinking or say
ing the same thing at the same
time.
In addition to twvirling and in
strumental music some of their
other common interests lie with
dancing and skiing. According to
them skiing is the "greatest sports
discovery of all times."

;ocializing, the ground floor will
probably be of more use to USC
students. It is here that the can

seating 350 persons, will be avail

two areas supplying midnight
snacks and washing machines for
the occupants of the dorm.
Perhaps the most welcome and

Feelings from purebred fear tc

change the outlook for a Caro

Another luxury of each room is
a private phone which is rapidly
becoming a necessity to all stu

distance calls are not permitted
these phones enable the girls tc
reach all Columbia numbers with
out charge, a facility which for
merly was not available.
Built-in beds a n d spacious
closets which line opposite walls
of the room give the students ad
ditional comfort and storage space.
Also found on each floor are
apartments of similar design where
