Bishop Paul Hardin of th,

n Alabama was the guest speake:
a for the banquet. In an inspirinj
n and interesting talk he stated hi:
h belief that the desire for coin
d mercial and cultural benefits wa
not sufficient reason for obtain
ing an education. Bishop Hardii
said that the teacher should trul;
want to teach and as a teache
should utilize every opportunit;
to help others to think and t
serve one's fellow man. Th
points made in his speech ar
closely related to the creed o
Kappa Delta Epsilon which state
that the task of the teacher i
to love, respect, understand an
guide the child for a life of un
folding possibilities, and that th
privilege of the teacher is to giv
aid, counsel, and support to fel
i, low teachers and to all agencie
y promoting the love of truth
beauty, and goodness.
