Choir School
Birthplace
Of Four Lads
From an Interview
By Barbara Moore
and Eva Edelsburg
Carolina students swayed to the
melodies of the Four Lads vocal
group at the Township Audi
torium last Thursday as the An
nual Greek Week festivities ap
proached another climax.
An energetic crowd of frater
nity and sorority members and
their dates heard the famous re
cording group sing their well
known "golden record" favorites,
including "Moments to Remem
ber" and "No, Not Much."
Jimmie Arnold, Bernie Toorish,
Connie Cordarini, and Frankie
Busseri, the music-minded vocal
ists who comprise the group, got
together back in 1952 at St.
Michael's Cathedral Choir School
in Toronto, Canada, where they
were studying, to form one of the
most popular quartets in modern
music's history. All four are mar
ried and have families in Toronto.
After some struggling on their
own, they finally clicked in the
big time when Johnny Ray gave
them their "big break."
The travel-weary Lads are
headed with the Billy Dennison
Band to the University of Scran
ton, Penn. Having just finished
a tour of Hawaii, Australia, and
Japan, they hope to soon be home
ward bound.
Adequate
Social Hall
Needed Here
The Carolina student body has
finally awakened to the fact that
we are in dire need of a new
atmosphere for our student func
tions.
Many have expressed their
opinion as to the statement, "I
would like to go to a nice place
where you could dress up and
I'm just not enthusiastic about
dressing to go to the Township
Auditorium." Others stated their
opinions complaining of the acous
tics, and the fact that the dance
floor was overcrowded. Frequently
mentioned was the desire to one
day have a building that would
hold the entire student body.
With the help of the entire stu
(lent body, Carolina may someday
have such a building. But it will
take work and cooperation from
everyone concerned.
