Hills 01 Carol BY CLOUDY HARDY Born near the Hills of Howard, in Anderson, to be exact, Ann Shirley made her escape to Caro % lina several years ago. The 21-year-old education major has a younger sister who is younger by only ten minutes. They're twins, of course. "But, said Ann, "we are exact opposites. Besides being a Gamecock booster, Ann's extra-curricular ac tivities include being president of Alpha Delta Pi, president of Pan hellenic Council, a member of Al plha Kappa Gamma, Euphrosynean Literary Society, Kappa Delta Ep silon, Wesley Foundation, and Tri-Ep. Since childhood, Ann has been plagued by the presence of a cou sin. This cousin, although two years younger, was always "beat ing up" Ann. To make matters worse, the cousin, who possessed a tricycle, wias jealous of Ann's two-wheel bike. This overwhelm ing jealousy caused the cousin, furiously peddling her tricycle, to run down Ann on her bicycle. "My cousin," said Ann, "fol lowed me around all the time and still hasn't outgrown the habit. She followed me to Carolina and joined my sorority so she could continue to pester ie. I'm afraid that one( day I'll he walking to chiss and she'll come peddling up behind me aid run over me with that tricycle." So that explains why Ann is always running away from Susan Reed. Ann has always been an active member in a variety of worth-while cilubs. The first was the Busy [lee ('lub, which wasn't really very bns.v. Then ihe F-our and a lfalf Club was stairted (Susan was the IHall) and the major project of that club was to play Cops and Robbers. Perhaps this experiolece will aid Ann after she graduates, for she intends to teach the second grade. Of course. her spare time is now consumed by other activities than Cops and Robbers. Iter favorite pastime is sleeping, mixed with a little reading and TV watching. Ann readily admits that she has a violent temlper, too. "I slam doors and throw hooks when I'm mad." "Well-traveled" might be the perfect description for Ann. She spent three summers working in Nantuckett, Mass., and one in North ('arolina. Last summer she flew to Pasadena, Calif., to attend Quality Is the Admittedly, ou r standlards are' Electric. The most delight ful part of the trip, she admits, was the tour of Disneyland, where she saw Tinkerbell. Ann's favorite rirle at Disneyland was the Peter Pan ride. She has the very common hobby of cutting classes, hates to walk, and worst of all, can't stand elevators because she has claus traphobia. She collects stuffed animals and her favorite food is a cabbage and onion sandwich. (Wonder when they'll start serv ing that in the Russell House?)
