Away we go . .Fraternity c .orority Stunt Night held Tuesdaty tioni by varimus --orority mvevim-wrs. 'Boiler Room' 'Flinchei 1Y ORIN ANDEISON Staff Writer Dear MaNma, It shore was nice to get the letter and the check. I was sertingly glad to hear how things was coming along in dear old Meninaw Bottom--espe cially about Thurlow Flincher and "Happy" Rentz. It shore does my hpt good to learn that the great singing team of "Flincher and Rentz" has finally hit the big time and is singing nightly in the "Boiler Room" of the Banana Club. I never will forget the night me and Quarentine Slogan broke up for good for the seventh time. We was sitting at a tab)le at the "Hack Room" of the G o o d y Wt' whai FILTE R-BLE taste difference selected and s smoking. Make Stunt Night Scenes Ieerleaders and Greek gods were among iii the Dreher Auditorium. The perform (Photo by Vai Dyke.) r And Ren, Shoppe, listening to the rhythmi- " c.al sounds of the dish-water slop- d ping against the sides of the sink, when Thurlow whipped out d his comb and tissue and "Happy" 13 picked up his "musical spoons" b and they started into "On the Wings of a Pure White Dove" and n "Three Stars." When they got to the part about "Gee, We're Gonna Miss You ..." it was too much for old Mrs. S, Grunch, the waitress. As you ( know, she is "rather portly" A (that's College for "fat"), and tj when something upsets her, she tj drops everything and plops down and cries. Well anyway, she didn't see h1 Booker Washington Jones, the boy d who works there. You see, he was down on his hands and knees n washing the floor behind Mrs. Grunch, and when she plopped s down, his head was over the scrub c bucket . . . he got it in the neck. v So much for Booker Washington e .Jones. f Anyway, I'll never forget. But1t I was glad to hear about Thurlow i Flincher and "Happy" Rentz. That was a mighty sad rendition they ( gave me that night. Why, I've heardl lots of people say that L s up front- th ND -a Winston exclusiv .You get rich tobaccos t pecially processed for fu voor next pack Winston! ite chiarieters spotlighted in the mee elimaxed weeks of prepatra. tz 'Perfor Flincher and Rentz" are the sad st thing they've ever heard. At the top of the letter, I have rawn the official Sigma Omega eta Pledge Pin. It was designed v Chunkie Furd in his spare time vhich he had a lot of while he as here). lie got the idea from our name Sigma Omega Beta." It really ands for "Sons of Baccus." You !e, Baccus is the god of Wine. "Wine" is Europe for "cokes"). nid so, the Pledge Pin portrays ie big keg of cokes we got in ie Fraternity House. The Active Pin is just like the ledge Pin, except that it is ollow. (It come in real handy uring those long dry lectures). Which reminds me, do you re iember me telling you at Semes r Break that I was going to ign up for Freshman Logic so I ould be logical? Well, brother, I rent into class the first day all ager to learn some logics and the irst thing the professor said to he class was: Of course, you real e that there are only two things i the world. "Cows and Non ows." I dlon't know abouit you, Mama, ut I couldl tell him and me wvas at counts e-makes the big hat are specialty It flavor in fitter R. 3. ReynjoIds Tobacco a oa, O I-a iq 49 m At Ban not gonna he buddies. That's what the "W. F." stands for (in my re port card when it comes. (You know, "Withdrew Fast"). Mamia, when I wrote to you last week, I told you that the presi dent of Intei-FraterIlity ('ouncil lad waited to talk to me abi1out the keg of cokes in the Sigma Omega Beta louse. Well. I went to see him and took hdim doviwl to the 01 11ome on F'rat low and let my roommate, Ray Youig, talk to him. After about thirty min utes, the IFC Pres. turned around and walked out mumbling solie thing about "I really don't give a quiet . . ." aid "I wonder how I can get away with it." lie's a pretty good old guy any way. Talking about Ray (which is a lot easier than talking to him), he has turlied out to be quite a card. The reason I say this is be cause he spends a lot of his tim< down at the "loffbrau" studying. ( Ray is real sIMIart ). lie always comes up with the "Word of Wis. dom" for the week. This time, he really hit his stride. We wer taking abouut all the wierd thuings that had happened this week when ?E.CICAR .4k -Z t ana Club ;Ray said: "I Wo der why t hey call it (reek Wv'k ?
