C. Wallace Martin, director for
development at the University, pre
sented the University's viewpoint in
pobsible acquistion of Ainsley Hall
mansion.
He said the Alumni Council and
the Board of Trustees of the Edu
cational Foundation have b o t h
adopted resolutions supporting the
project "in principle." Both organi
zations, he said, have agreed to com
mend the Ainsley Hall proposal to
the alumni as a major project with
these provisions: (1) that the USC
Board of Trustees and administra
tion agree to provide a site, and (2)
that the University shall have the
privilege of designating the use to
which the building will be put.

one floor to fine arts exhibition
spa(-e. refurnish a floor as it was
in the early 1800's, and use the re
mainder of the building for meet
ings, he said.
The Executive Committee of the
ioard of Trustees has "expressed
interest" in obtaining the building
for the university and has given
tentative approval to providing a
site. The location considered is the
McMaster School property, adjacent
to the former elementary school
building now occupied by the USC
departments of music and fine arts.

order by President Mike Quinn. The roll was called and the
minutes approved as read.

Mike Adair, chairman of the Fire Investigation Commit
tee, reported that there is usually no charge for fire equip
ment being pulled out when there is a fire.

That the Traffic and Safety Committee be instructed to
discuss this matter (the gate between Currell College
and the tennis courts) vith the administration and in
order to clear up the misunderstanding now existing,
the committee will point out the following:
1. The overwhelming majority of the Student Body is
opposed to the gate.
2. The gate hasn't proved effective in stopping jay
wvalking.
