Glenda Gunter Wins Title *j 1W1. Glenda Gunter was selected Miss 8435th Air Force Recovery Group on October 26. Shown in the picture with her are Lt. Col William O'Callahan and Mayor Lester L. Bates. She was selected by Capt. White of the air reserve. Miss Gunter, a junior, has won various other beauty contestt over the state in the past few years, and most recently, was elected to reign over Carolina's 1960 Ilomeconing. She was also in the finals of last year's "Miss Garnet and Black" contest. She is a member of Pi Beta Phi social sorority at the University. (Author of "I Was a Teen-age Dwarf", "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis", etc.) A MODEST PROPOSAL A movement is afoot-a shocking, startling movement-to solve the problem of overcrowded colleges by the simple expe dient of refusing admission to women at coeducational schools It is argued by proponents of this plan that in today's world a college education is absolutely essential for a man, while for a woman it is merely a pleasant interlude between adolescence and housewifery. There is simply not room enough for both men and women in our overburdened colleges; therefore, in all fair ness, womlen who have far less need of a degree than men, must yield their places.
