Carolina has not beaten Louisi
ana State since the Tiger-Game
cock series began in 1930, when
the Birds squeaked out a 7-6 win.
However, the USC troops have
lost but three times, the two
squads having met only four times
in the history of the schools.
From 1931 through 1933 the Ba
you Bengals walked off the field
with wins of 19-12, 6-0, and 30-7,
the latter constituting the largest
victory margin by either team.
After '33, however, the series
was discontinued and has not been
resumed until this season, after
which the teams will play on a
home-and-home basis for the next
few years.
Throughout the series, Carolina
teams h a v e mustered only 26
points, while the Tigers have man
aged 61.

It is interesting to note that
in all four games, pre-game pre
dictions have rated the tilt a
toss-up, as each team had a win
ning season from '30 to '33. In
1932 only four t e a in a scored
against LSU, and the following
year the same thing occurred. In
the latter year, Carolina was one
of the four.
This year the teams have al
most identical records, as the
Gamecocks have a 1-4 record
while the Bengals are 1-4-1. How
ever, this game is rated far from
a toss-up, for the team that LSU
tied wias Mississippi, then the
Number 2 team in the nation.
Coach Dietzel expressed earlier
that his hope for success lay in
the q u i c k development of his
sophomores, and after last Satur
day's action against Ole Miss, his
worries should be over.
