The Maryland Terrapins loom
as the Gamecocks' formidable foe
this Saturday for the seventeenth
time in the thirty-four-year-old
rivalry.
Carolina drew first blood in
1926, as the Terrapins were white-'
washed 12-0. The series continued
on practically a give-and-take ba
sis for the next eight contests,
both teams winning four games.
In 1949, the Terps turned the
tables with a resounding 44-7
romp over the Gamecocks-this
