On Homecoming Day the Game
cocks were victorious over the Tar
Heels. The cheering section sounded
enthusiastic throughout the game.
As one male undergraduate re
marked during the game, "The
Birds were playing real scramble
football."
A very intelligent statement was
made after the parents of the
Gamecocks were introduced. "Just
think," said a coed, "if these nice
people were not parents, we wouldn't
have a team."
A freshman in the stadium no
ticed the Boy Scouts seated in the
stands. He turned to a friend to
remark, "I remember when I went
to Boy Scout camp one year, and
there was a Girl Scout camp only a
short hiking distance away. Oh,
- goodness, I almost forgot, we're in
the presence of ladies!" . . . War
tales, gentlemen, will give your in
tentions away.
Some people never learn ratios, or
do they? . . . A USC coed after re
cently seeing eadets in front of Rus
sell House ,decided to send an ap
lication for admission to The Citt
del. Her reason was simply that
"m"en outnumber the women one
hundred to none."

An excess of feminine joiners have
been showing up at luncheons,
Ballroom. Everyone seemed to en
joy stepping on each others' toes and
there were no complaints about the
multitude dancing (?) on the
floor. Very few noticed the crowd
. . . the influence, that "bottles" of
ginger ale (?) exerted over our stu
dent body is amazing.
At the Homecoming game an
"inebriated" member of the alumni
started singing, "Gonna take a
sentimental journey . . . Gonna go
back to Currell . . . Gonna learn
that history I i . .. Just iike I should
have years ago." . . . lie should
have remembered what Ben Franklin
once said: "Dost thou love life, then
d(o not squander time, for that's the
stuff life is made of."
"To be a good student or not to
be a good student, that is the que,
tion." Shakespeare should have'
lived during the twentieth century,
and written a tragedy about the
grades that USC students receive
on their first hour quizes.

When each little pledge told us
of her unsubsiding willingness to do
Lhores, she is also told she must
join several other clubs to avoid one

leadership. Several of the sororities
use a point system, while others
base it on a "do it or else" priinciple.
With the point system, the pkilge
