Speakers at the conference were Mrs. George King, national Pan-Hellenic area advisor and Dr. Frank Dickey, president of the University of Kentucky. A new constitution which was introduced by the Auburn dele gation was voted on and accepted by the convention delegates. To begin with, let's talk about the bags. Mont important here is size --the bigger the better. Straw bags for spring and summer are oversized with a big expanse of leather trim -or lots and lots of flowers. This year's straws take to vivid colors, par ticularly brilliant reds a n d oranges. Straw bags come in both the casual and dress versions. For casual wear, they are made of rough straws, loosely woven and trimmed with polished leather, shiney metal, or field flowers and fruiti. Dressy Stylem Dressier straws are finer woven, giving a fragile look. These are trimmed with fake pearls and beads, frequently they are covered with flowers and green leaves. Patent bags are bigger and boxy; they go to all sizes and shapes to be roomier. They are trimmed with gold or silver-col ored metal and soinetimes with amber-colored plastic. Bone bags are usually smaller than other bags. Either small pouches sparsely trimmed with gold-colored metal or small clutches and envelopes. Slim, Elegant Clutches This spring brings an avalanche of clutches and envelopes. Eit-her very small ones or long, slim, ele gant ones. Most are gathered at the top for more fullness. Other elegant bags for dress are those made of hopsacking in a floral print. Usually found in combinations of rose and black, or beige and rose, they look like a medieval tapestry. More long gloves will be seen this spring, but they stop a short distance from the sleeves for which they reach. The longer glove% can be sheared or have a straight flaring top, with some added interest such as scallops or embroidered tops. More summer white, several strands of chalk white beads in unusual shapes are also worn with jet. The nicest news yet for sum mer suits and dresses is the lit tle enameled flower pins. They come in vivid shades of rose, lavender and blue, either in full bloom or a modest bud with a minimum of stem. They look best when peeping from under a big collar. Earrings, Bracelets Earrings are big--sometines as much as two inches of earring. They are all glitter, crystal beads or big pearls; pure fakery but nice. Flower earrings to match the enameled pine are also in style. Also nice for suits are big pins with glittery stones in spring's best pale colors. Frequently, gold or silver colored metal is added. Wear two or three small ones snuggled against a collar or use one big one to replace a button. There's no news in the world of bracelets. Just wear them two or three deep, and please try to forget the janglely kind. It's go ing too far when a bracelet has bells that actually tinkle. An absolute necessity for the sunny days ahead-sunglasses. Again the maxim is the bigger the better; oversized frames and lenses take care of this. Lenses that flip up for indoor viewing seem terribly practical to us. A bit of whimsy for heach wear, sunglasses with f a k e daisies surrounding the lenses.
