Nine Campus Queens Vie For Honors Representatives froni nine col leges and universities in South Carolina will compete in the "Miss South Carolina Campus Queen" contest in Columbia on Jan. 31. The contest is being staged as a March of Di)nes benefit. Vicki Rumph will represent the University in the event. Competing in bathing suits and evening dresses, the representa tive queens will gather at Dreher High school auditorium tomor row night at 8 p.m. Tickets are $1.00 and proceeds are to go to the March of Dimes. The open rush season which began immediately after fall rush will continue during spring term. Open rush means that any co-ed who has the scholastic require ments may be pledged by a soror ity at any time. A student who has been previ ously enrolled in Carolina must have carried at least 12 hours the preceding semester and must have attained an average of 3.00 on all courses carried. A new student or transfer must have attained at least a 2.00 on the Undergraduate Entrance Exam. A co-ed who was not eligible last semester -must wait until the grades have come through the Registrar's Office before pledging a sorority. This date will be Monday, Feb. 9.
