Jimmy Farr will play for this, the first formal held on the campus by Chi Psi since its re activation on December 7, 1956. Chi Psi is the only active pre-Civil War fraternity at Carolina. Though made dormant by the "War of Northern Agression," "Black Reconstruction" and the anti-fraternity laws of the early part of this century, Alpha Beta, nonetheless, produced many Southern gentlemen. The officers of Alpha Beta are Robert M. Bell, president; John T. Austell, vice-president; Thomas Moseley, secretary; James W. Foster, treasurer; and Raymond L. In connection with Greek Week which is sponsored by IFC, a formal dance will be held ori March 1, by the Inter-Fraternity Council. AKlS Men's Stu Opens Gr This coming week, Feb. 24 Mar. 1, has been designated as Greek Week by the Carolina i Inter-Fraternity Council. The annual fraternity event will be highlighted by a formal dance Saturday night featuring the music of the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra with Warren Coving ton. In addition to the formal, Men's and Women's Stunt Nights, an informal dance Fri day evening, and a Saturday afternoon jazz concert are in cluded in the week's activities. The opening event of Greek Week will be Men's Stunt Night, Feb. 25. The fraternity men will man the stage of Drayton Hall to perform their traditional frolics. Although the exact themes which the brothers will use In their skits were still a secret at press time, It Is antic ipated that many items of Carolina studeA life, will be given a full treatment by the Greeks. On Thursday night, the men cede the Drayton stage to their Hellenic sisters as the sororities present the Girls' Stunt Night. In previous years, the women have produced shows ,worthy of Broadway musical comedy and this year's program is reported to be no exceotion. Sorority Skits The themes for the sorority acts include "Vodiacal Mood" by the KD's, "Snow White" by ADPi, "The Taming of the Shrew" by the Pi Phi's, and the ZTA's "Bewitched, Bewedded, Beheaded." The Chi O's will present "Operation Mermaid" while the SDT's and DZ's collab orate on "Toyland Escapade" and the Tri Delt's present "Beauty And Love." Andy Scott, local radio per sonality, will be the MC for Women's Stunt Night. Judges include Mrs. Elizabeth Ketchen, Mr. Roy McCullough, and Mr. Van Hook. Both the Women's% and Men's Stunt Nights will begin at 7:30. An innovation to the Greek Week festivities will make its debut on Friday night. The dance will be held at the ball room of the Wade Hampton from 9:00 to 1:00 and a local orchestra will furnish the music. Dorsey Orchestra Saturday afternoon, the Tom my Dorsey Orchestra will play a 'jazz concert at the Dreher High School auditorium.- The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra is continuing in the fine style, of its co founders, the late Tommy and 'Jimmy Dorsey. The band fea tures many of the original ar rangements which made the Dorsey nation-wide favorites. It is now under the direction of Warren Covington, an alumnus of the original Dorsey orchestra. The formal dance on Saturday evening will conclude the Greek Week activities. A highlight of the dance will be the awarding of the IFC Man-Of-The-Year' Award. The dance will be held at the Wade Hampton from 8:00 p.m. til 12:00. SAS Hears McManus The Sigma Alpha Sigma, Honorary Secretarial Science Fraternity, held its regular monthly meeting February 12, in the lounge of the B. A. Build ing. Guest speaker for the pro gram, Father J. Fleming Mc Manus, pastor of St. Mary's Church, Yonges Island, South Carolina, led a group discussion on "Religion in Business." At the business meeting imme diately following, plans were dis cussed for the annual banquet which is held each spring. High School Day, to be spon sored by Blue Key honorary fraternity in cooperation with the administration, is to be held on March 22. The response to the letters sent to school principals through out the state has been very good with about 1,000 responses re ceived to date, said Dean of Women Elizabeth Clotworthy.
