Gone are the icicles of a few weeks ago. Zeus now reigns king. Co-eds and male students are beginning to enjoy the sun in numerous sun bathing sites over the campus. As one strolls across the grounds, bathers can be seen in almost any suitable location, some asleep, some studying, and others just watching the traffic from building to building. Each day more pink, and even some red-skinned students appear in classes, making those who haven't yet had time to go out, hope that they can soon do so. Ken Sturgeon, photographer for The Gamecock, managed to snap these two pictures which show the change from the cold icy winter weather to the warm, dazzling rays of the sun shining in the spring. I!! Club Hears Paper By Doctor Mur phy Edward Rouffy read a paper prepared by Doctor Eugene Mur phy of the Foreign Language De partment at the April 11 meeting of the Philosophy Club. Dr. Murphy was to deliver the paper entitled "T. S. Eliot's Def inition of a Classic" but was ill and could not attend. Dr. Murphy received his A.B. degree from the University of Toronto in 19411, his M.A. degree from the University of Houston in 1942 and his doctorate from Johns Hopkins University in 1951. Fifteen Join Hypatian LastW Wednesday Fifteen women were initiated into Ilypatian Literary Society or women at a ceremony in Clar iosophic Iall April 10. They were selected by the So iety under its new constitutional unendments wvhich require each new member to have made a three average on nine hours, including Ane English course, the preceding semester. The initiates could not be or have been affiliated with any other literary society on cain pus. The 15 women had attended a tea, March 27, in the Hall and af terwards were given invitations to join.
