Speaking of shots, Pericola was asked what his favorite shot was -"The one that goes in the basket." He said grinningly. Pericola doesn't havo any special hobby other than," . . .girls, no they are more of a past time." "Cookie" was approached by numerous schools in the North and South before he decided to come to Carolina. He had even considered an appointment to West Point. It is the good fortune of South Carolinians that "Cookie" came southward. Good Student He is presently in the Arts & Science School where he maintains a 3.3 average last semester even in the face of a lot of basketball road trips and practice. LPericola is a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and is undergoing pledge duty that he says is keeping him busy. Pericola's parents got to see "Cookie" play this season when the Gamecocks ventured up to Maryland. SEASON 7ame Is '( sion this past Monday, Student Council voted unanimously to set aside tomorrow evening as "Grady Wallace Night" in honor of USC's good will ambassador of the hard woods. The game will be the regular season finale for both clubs and will mark the basketball "swan song" for both Grady Wallace and Bobby McCoy here at Carolina. Council voted to recommend to athletic director Rex En right- that Wallace's jersey (number 42) be permanently retired in honor of the Game cocks' high-acoring forward. They also voted that Student Body President David White present Wallace with a plaque so worded that Wallace would ever be reminded that the Caro lina student body deeply ap preciated his basketball prowess and gentlemanly conduct which were employed as he represented USC in athletic contests during his two years here. Wallace will be awarded the most valuable player award by Parker Evatt, president of the Pep Club. Evatt will also be present a plaque to Coach Frank Johnson which will remain at the University and will bear the name of the most valuable basketball player for each season as chosen by the fans at the home games. Wallace carries a 30.48 per game scoring average into the Clemson game and needs to fatten his 762 point total to insure the national scoring crown. At least four competitors are within a single point of his average. The Gamecocks will be out to nail down the sixth place slot in the ACC standings. The Birds have a conference record of 4-9 while the Tigers are 3-10 in league play. The Birds are 14-11 overall. Clemson defeated the locals in an earlier game played in "the hills," 79-71.
