Newton Edwards of the School of Education will discuss "Stability and Changes in Basic Concepts of the Law Governing American Education" at the Uni versity of Chicago October 11. His will be one of the three major papers presented at the second annual conference of the National Organization on Legal Problems in Education. * * * Openings for Ad Salesmen There are openings on the Sandlapper for persons interested in selling advertisements. In terested students should contact Zek! Montgomery, business man ager, box 2924. * * * Grade Regulation Changed A grade of "7-A" Instead of the conventional "W-A" will be given on a course if a student is with drawn from the class because of excessive cuts, Dean of Women Arney R. Childs has arviounced. The failing grade will be counted in the student's semester aver age, she said. * * * Biology Club Meeting Biology Club will hold its first meeting at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday. A movie on "Tobacco and the Human Body" will be shown dur ing the program. A short business meeting will follow with the elec tion of new officers. All in terested persons are invited to attend. * * * Miss Garnet and Black The deadline for Miss Garnet and Black nominations is Tues day. Any dormitory group or campus organization may submit an entry. Signature of the president of the group submitting an entry must be presented along with the candidate's name. Entries may be sent to Garnet and Black, box 4732. Names of candidates who have no group affiliation must be ac companied by the names of 25 persons who have no group con nections. * * * Professors Attend Seminar Two University faculty mem bers of the School of Pharmacy recently presented papers at the North Carolina Pharmaceutical this week. Dr. James A. Campbell pre sented a paper on "Some Recent Trends in Dermatological Bases." Dr. J. E. Hunter, Jr. gave a paper on "The Value of Prescription Surveys and Systematic Prescrip tion Pricing to Pharmacists." * * * Co-Ed Association Meeting Co-ed Association will meet at 5 p.m., Thursday, in room 204, Russell House, at which time ai * v ice-p)resident and reporter will be elected. -All University woment are invitedl to join. * * * Saturday Closing of McKissick McKissick Library wvill be closed , tomorrowv after 1 p.m. for the football game. Thereafter the library will continue~ its usual Sat urday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library will also he I closed November 17 for the Mary land game. Student Voters To Register Now Students residing in the Co lumbia area who have not yet registered for the Nov. 6 gen eral election, may do so be tween the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. today antd tomorrow at, the Richiand County Court Hlouse. The Richland County Board of Registration has exte'nded the time for registration, which was originally set for Wednesday, according to For resit C. Shealy, chairman. Reg istration hooks are usually open only the first three days of each month. Anyone who will be 21 years old 30 days prior to Nov. 6 is eligible to register now, Shealy announcead. The band ar quarters remain open from early pr l morning to late night for stu- lir dents to practice their respective instruments. And the rehearsal i rooms are usually filled. Carnett, a native of San Saba, Texas, received the bachelor de gree in music education from Co uimbia U'niversity. He has studied privately under teachers from France, Germany, and Italy. His last instructor was William Vae chiano, first trumpet player of the New York Philharmonic Sym phony. iHe has also studied at Furman, Western Carolina and Wofford.
