Maryland, the team that wrecked
North Carolina State, and Lee Col
lins, South Carolina's center stand
out, receive the Columbia Record's
salute as "Team-of-the-week" and
"Player-of-the-week" in the At
lantic Coast Conference for the
week of Feb. 12-18.
The Terrapins, led by forward
Bob Kessler, beat State Saturday
night the hard way-at Raleigh,
71-62. The win gave coach Bud
Millinken's team a 14-7 record, and
five of the defeats have been to
ACC teams, another to powerful
Kentucky.
Collins, playing his final two
home games for Carolina, helped
heat Furman Tuesday, scoring 36
points, and he was a standout in a
losing cause against Georgia Tech
Saturday night with a 25-point ef
fort.
Collins was again a consistent
rehounder in both games.
