Indeper By SID BADGER Sports Writer "The worm has changed," as the old saying goes, and according to the Independent football leaders, these words will hold true this year as the Crawford All-Stars and Preston will lay you odds on the outcome of the intramural footbalt championship this season. All-Stars Unbeaten The All-Stars continued un beaten this week as they ran amuck over a strong McBryde machine 19 to 6 to run their record for the year to 3 and 0. George Wells mixed his plays well and faked beautifully on numerous occasions to lead the offensive show for the winners. He fired to the Stars' fine end, Don Boan, for one score, the play covering 42 yards. Just minutes later, this same Mr. Wells pitched out to Al Dennis with the latter sprinting 47 yards into pay dirt. Buddy Carter put the game on ice for Crawford's Dandies as he took a punt on his own 17 and went untouched the remaining distance to score. McBryde scored their lone touchdown when Gus Hall found Ralph Risher in the open and hit him with a 17-yard scoring pass. The All-Stars' spirited line play was led by Sonny Hollis and Don Boan. Boan continues to stand out both offensively and defensively JOHNS flu WAltei For the past couple of ye Gamecock basketball team hai that would have a chance in th The additions from Pikevi first team last year and Walk their coach, Walter Hambrick not been very much loss by t to the above stated fact. Gunnels Stars . Again it was the incomparable Bobby Gunnels, as he streaked into L pay dirt twice to run his point total to 38 in the first three games. The first score came as a result of some fine passing by Charlie Rosson as he found Gunnels in the open hitting him for the score, the play covering 55 yards. Rosson dis played his uncanny passing ability again to Gunnels when he passed 32 yards for the second score of the game. Sigma Chi ended the scoring late in the fourth quarter as Murphy Lemmon snared a screen pass from this same Mr. Rosson and scored without being touched. Coach Ronnie Hicks' win ners now have a record of 8 and 0 and remain tied for the league lead. In other fraternity games, Phi Kappa Sigma downed Phi Sigma Kappa 7 to 6. W. C. Cook scored the winners' touchdown as he raced 24 yards for the score in the second quarter. He also scored the point after touchdown. For the losers, Harry Edwards stood out as he found Jack McConnel all alone in the end zone and passed 11 yards for the TD.
