Scholarship
Miss Joanne Race, a freshman
major in piano, was awarded a
$100 scholarship by Delta Omicron
National Professions Music fra
ternity. This national scholarship
is presented every year to the
most outstanding freshman music
major of the Delta Mu chapter at
the University.
Joanne came to the University
in the summer of 1953 to study in
the master class of Dr. Edwin
Hughes. She is a pupil of Dr.
Hugh Williamson. Joanne is a
pledge to Kappa Delta and a mem
ber of the University chorus. This
award will be used to further her
study of piano at the University.
Joanne is the daughter of Mr.
C. H. Race of Winter Haven,
Florida. She is a graduate of
Winter Haven High School where
she was president of the freshman
class and of the International
club. She was the winner of the
"I Speak For Democracy" contest
and the D.A.R. Citizenship Award.
