Last year, graduation made a
big dent in the line of the Carolina
football team. Bill Wohrman was
the only first string back to finish.
This year the backfield will be
the hardest hit, along with the cen
ter slot. Among the casualty list
are three halfbacks, three fullbacks
and three centers. Other losses in
clude two ends, two guards and one
tackle.
The graduates are halfbacks
Carl Brazell, Mike Caskey, and Bill
Tarrer; fullbacks Jim Jarrett, Ed
Adams, and Eddie Field; centers
Hugh Bell, Aubrey Reed, and
Harry Crowley; ends Larry Gos
nell and Joe Silas; guards Bill
Weston and Dick Covington; tackle
Hugh Merck.
Brazell was considered too small
to play college football. He only
weighed 145 pounds when he en
rolled at Carolina but has since
gained up to a strapping 165.
