Brant, Jr., and Job E. Brantley. Two Scholarships Given Students Of Journalism Scholarships awarded by the School of Journalism have been announced by Dean Ross P. Schla bach. Judy McKeller, a senior in the School of Journalism from Greenwood, and Thomas Walker, a sophomore from Greenville in the School of Journalism, are the two recipients of the awards. Miss McKeller was awarded the Beaufort Watte Ball Scholarship amounting to $100. This scholar ship is awarded annually by the faculty of the School of Journal ism to a deserving student who has completed two years of Uni versity work. Mr. Walker was awarded the J. Rion McKissick Scholarship. This $800 scholarship Is awarded an nually to a rising sophomore be ginning his studies In journalism. The award was based on Mr. Walker's academic and extra curricular work during his fresh man year. He is cartoonist for the Gamecock and was an assistant trainer In the athletic department last year. This was the first separate college library building in the nation, designed for the use of a book collection which was almost unrivalled in the South. The Old Library is known today as the South Caroliniana Library. It maintains a separate research collection of South Caro lina material which is the largest collection of this material in the world.
