I wonder where everyone's mind is. It's certainly not on books PHI EPSILON PI PARTY The Phi Eps had a party Saturday night at the home of fraters DON and IVAN MILLER. The party was held in honor of STEVE BAUMRIND, JULIAN TOPOREK, and BARRY KLASSMAN, who were formally initiated the next day. Among the couples seen there were: DON MILLER and Phi Ep sweetheart, MITZI LEVIN; I. M. GOLDBERG and PHYLLIS LOVE; DON KATZ and MIRIAM KARESH. SAND AND SUN It seems the KD's took our advice about the beach last week end. After their "White Rose" formal they journeyed to Pawley's Island for a houseparty at JOY ANN BULL's. Those lucky people -BE MINE KENNETH R. BRAMLETT pinned JOYCE LEE, a stu dent nurse at Anderson Memorial Hospital, at the IFC Dance. NANCY SNIPES is engaged to HERB HESTER. LYNN ERGLE is marrying KEN JOHNSON today. PARTYIN' BY THE LAKE Taking advantage of the unseasonable weather, the Phi Sigs partied at Lake Murray last Saturday night. The evening was spent roasting wieners, singing group songs, and making merry. Among those couples present were: 'TOM CARR and NANCY DAWSON, BOB BLAKELY and LINDA CAUTHEN; JOE LYNCH and MAUREEN O'BRIAN. COMBO SETS THE PACE Among those dancing to the music of Willy Collin's Combo at the Pi Kappa Phi house Thursday night were: PEGGY MOORE with HAMP WILSON, BETSIE WOOD WARD with SPARKY SANDERS, and GLADYS VAUGHN with PAUL GIBSON. BANQUET AT THE GREEN DERBY The Pi Phi's held a banquet at the Green Derby Sunday night in honor of the new actives. WEEK END EVACUATION OF U. S. C. TOM RENIWICH spent the week end in Charleston after a successful rifle match at The Citadel. Also traveling to Charleston were BILL TODD, PETE WILLIAMS, GREG STONE and BOB ELWELL, EMILIE BATES and JOE WELSH. Attending the District Conclave of Kappa Sigma at Duke were DON SMOAK, PAUL DURHAM, and BILL RHOAD). JACK HUFFORD played his last game with the Varsity basketball team during the ACC Finals at Raleigh, N. C. Several of the Sig Eps and their dates journeyed t.o Raleigh last wefk end to attend the annual North Carolina South Carolina Sigma Phi Epsilon Ball. LAMAR HUNT attended the Founder's D)ay Banquet and Ball given by the Alpha Delta chapter of PiKA in Atlanta last Saturday night. "SISTER" HEATH visited BOB WIMBERLY in St. Matthews, while PEGGY SKELTON and HARVEY IHORNE spent the week end at Harvey's in Denmark. Many of the KA's were attending the KD) houseparty at Pawley's Island. Others toured the S. C. coast. CHI OMEGA DROP-IN Despite the rain Sunday night, a large number of people attended the Chi 0 drop-in which was held from seven-thirty 'til nine. A POPULAR PLACE Two other fraternities besides the Phi Sigs also enjoyed the warm weather at Lake Murray last Saturday night. The PiKA's and their dates had a wiener roast. A few of those enjoying nature were .JULIUS DERRICK with FRANCES TA LBERT, SID) BAD)GER with ANNA SH EALY, and JIM FASSNACHT with BETTY SEAY. BILL MATTHEWS, TOM FLYNN, ROBERT SIG and their dates were some of the Sig Eps seen on a blanket party at Lake Murray last Saturday night. PRODIGAL SONS RETUJRN Last week end the Sigma Nu pledges had to travel to the University of Georgia and to D)uke to "Bring back the goods." They not only brought back the goods but also had a great time. Those headed the Georgia way were: JIM BAXTER, DON MURPHY, FRED THOMPSON, FRANK MOISE and GEORGE HARMON. Traveling toward D)uke were seen: BEN GAUSE, ALEX GARNER, PRESTON WHALEY,I CARL BLAYLOCK, SAM LAYTON, and LOWELL FULEN WIDER. TID BIT Sigma Nu's celebrated activation at Laurel Hill Tues day night. A color that matches these features or that is complimentary to them is suitable. Thus no color is likely to be equally becoming to a blonde, a redhead and a brunette. But so much depends on subtle difference of tint or shade that there can be no fixed rule. Each person must try colors with one another and against the face to choose those which are best suited to her. Here are a few suggestions: Plain, dull black drains the face of color; whereas white throws color and vitality into the skin. An intense yellow gives the skin a tinge of violet which emphasizes its deficiencies, )articularly if the skin is sallow. Bright yellow should therefore be worn only by a girl with a perfect complexion. To bring out the color of the eyes, you can use a large duller area of the same hue. Colors differ in different lights. Most artificial lights are soften ing; a color which is too vivid by day may be very becoming at night. Tonite Campus-Wide Dance Features Bill Moore The Alpha Eta chapter of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity will hold its bi-annual Black and Gold formal tonight at the Jefferson Hotel Ballroom. Bill Moore and his orchestra will provide the music for the campus-wide affairo from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Phi Kappa Sigma is the oldest national social fraternity on the Carolina campus having been founded at the University of Pennsylvania in 1850. The Alpha Eta chapter was established at the College of Charleston in 1901, and moved to the university in 1929, when fraternities were allowed to return to this campus. The officers of the fraternity are: Marshall Cain, Aiken, presi dent; David Martin, Orangeburg, vice-president; Bernard Ranson, Columbia, secretary; Jack Win gate, Columbia, treasurer; Michael Cory, Beaufort, rush chairman; W. C. Cook, Augusta, Georgia, pledge master; Charles Rivers, Columbia, IFC representative; Homer Pad get, Georgetown, corresponding secretary; George Geiger, Colum bia, house manager, and Butch Williamson, Beech Island, house manager. A drop-in has been planned for members of Phi Kappa Sigma and their dates to be held from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. this evening at the Phi Kap House at 1602 Pendle ton Street.
