Or are all of you resting for a while to recover from our big Greek Week? Yours truly is content to settle down with a book for a few days. But not for long-it sho is hot enough to start flocking to the beaches and to begin getting that marvelous suntan-burn. IFC FORMAL Last Thursday hight, after an hour concert of all kinds of music-including our own Dixie Land-Tommy Dorsey furnished the Carolina students with three hours of the best dance music to be found. The Township Auditorium seemed to be a mighty popular place, and we hope that we will be able to get other name bands for the future Greek Weeks. ALL AROUND THE TOWN Phi Kaps partied Saturday night at the VFW on Beltline Boulevard. Kenny Morris' Combo furnished the music-by the way, it was very good. Several of the couples attending were: RUTH TISON with MIKE CORY; ANN LUMPKIN with TED ELLIS; PAT ARANT with DALE PAYNE; and ALIDA STANLEY with BILL PARKER. The KA's also partied last week. A few of those there were: PEGGY SKELTON with HARVEY HORNE; MARY WISE RIXEY with LOUIS WRIGHT; and CAROLINE ROB INSON with FRANK ELLERBE. ZEKE NOCK and LOUISE HERRON; NUDGE YAGER and TUNKIE YARBOROUGH are just a few of the KA's and their dates who were seen at the Camden polo matches. The Sigma Nu's and the SAE's decided to have a joint BYOL at the Assyrian-Lebanon Club Saturday night. A colored combo played for the party. MARCIA WISEHART and SHELL SUBER; JO ANN FRANKLIN and GARY BANKS; BRATTON "ROACH" DeLOACH and Mrs. "B"; DAN McINTYRE and BERTHA GARDNER; BENNY HELMS and EMILIE GRAHAM; BEN GAUSE and CARO LYN PUTNAM were only a few of the many having a grand time. The ATO's chose the Rainbow Room as the perfect place for a party Friday night. Among those present were: GENE STRICKLAND with GEORGE STUART; PAT GABLE with EDDIE VAUGHN; BETTY HANAHAN with BILL MA HONEY; and NANCY WALLACE with TOM COOPER. Last Saturday night the Sig Eps journeyed out to Heise's pond for a dog roast-whoops, we meant a hot dog roast. All kidding aside, the Sig Eps and their dates had a wonder ful time singing and dancing by the big open fireplact. A few of the couples taking in astronomy by the lake were: CAROLYN WOODWARD with HUGH YOHO; ANN SOLO MONS with LEE KNIGHT; and JOY WELBURN with BILL KAY. The Phi Eps were shipwrecked Saturday night at the Cayce' Woman's Club. First prize was awarded to BARRY KLASSMAN for bringing the three best articles that he would take on a dlesert island. We'll let you imagine what they were A banquet at the Green Derby was held by the Pi Phi's Sunday night honoring MRS. RUTH HANSON, visiting officer, from Louisville, Kentucky. FOREVER AND EVER RANKIN SUBER was married to EMMETT MORRISON February 12, 1955. Also taking the big step were RENA POLK and ED McGEE who were recently married. MARTY LYNCH is pinned to JOHN MAULPSBY of D)avidson. THE ENGAGEMENT OF THE WEEK GENE STRICKLAND, ADPIi alum, and GEORGE STUART are engaged. The wedding will take place in Decembher. Among those (dancing until one were: MARGOT WEILANI) with HOMER PAD)GETT; SYLVIA NOLAN with HENRY McKEITHIAN; IIARHARA D)ENT with BEAUFORT GAULT; and BEVERLY MILTON with BEN McELVEEN. PiKA DROP-IN The PiKA's held a drop-in at DON BROWN's for the members of the fraternity and their dates prior to the Greek Formal. Around the Y By Ann Solomons Ted LeDeen, recently elected Iean of the Spring Retreat of the "Y" Association, announced a meeting of the Camp Long Plan ning Committee. The committee, headed by Joe Taylor of Clemson College, will meet at the uni versity, March 19. The theme of the retreat is "Here Am I, Send Me" from Isaiah. The main speaker will be Rev. Harry Cot ton of Chapel Hill. A group of Carolina students will be in charge of recreation. Beginning this week, vespers ire being held Tuesday evenings at 7:00. Vesper's, being held on ruesday instead of Sunday, should give more students a better op portunity to come to Vespers with ut. having any conflict with the ,-hiirch services. This week Phi Epsilon frater nity pledge class observed "Help Week." The boys are dedicating their spare time to work at the "Y." They are preparing the R. (. Memorial Gate in order that it may be dedicated in June. Members of the Phi Sigma Kappa pledge class wvorked at the "Y" camp the week precedling the SPE's. Hat; The Lazy Taken Over C By BERTHA GARDNER Society Editor With the coming of spring, (which is just around the corner), a tiny inert portion of the student's mind suddenly becomes very active. Thoughts of laziness and a "get away from it all" feeling seems to invade the more intellectual side of the mind and overpower our willingness to carry on with this pencil and paper routine called studying, which we all have become accustomed to one time or another during this school year. I wonder if you have noticed, as I have, that the holidays for the whole spring semester are but one! This blessed event is spring recess, A pril 8-10.. The "Lazy Epidemic" evi dently didn't affect the Inter fraternity Council's Greek Week Committee. Congratulations are in order for this committee and especially to the co-chairmen, Albert J. Perry and J. Watson Williams. We cannot overlook the IFC formal, which featured the Tommy Dor sey Orchestra, either. I think everyone will agree that the dance was great and that Tommy and Jimmy as well as the whole band were fabulous. This one especially 'enjoyed the concert before the dance (that is, when everyone finally set tled down to really listen to what the bAnd had to offer). Of course, Greek Week could not have been a success with out the support of the student body. Your interest was- re vealed by the grand attendance to the many events offered dur ing this week. I hope that this interest will not be affected by the "Lazy Bug" come next May 2, when Les Brown and his band renowned will be here to play for the annual Carolina May Day Dance. This is one of the biggest name bands that Caro lina has ever had for May Day dance festivities and we should be proud that Carolina is offer ing the best in the entertain ment line for its students.
