Aviation Course
In Summer School
Says Traveistead
Aviation education will be the
subject of a three-week workshop
to be offered by the university
during its summer school session,
Dr. Chester C. Traveistead, head
of the School of Education, an
nounced today.
Classes will be held July 6-23
daily from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Three
graduate or undergraduate credits
may be earned.
Persons participating in the
wvorkshop will examine "the air
age and its effects on the lives
of people and schools," and will
study the preparation of aviation
education projects and courses.
They will also receive instirue
tion in teaching methodology, in.
terest motivation, vocational op.
portunities and the evaluation of
available aviation teaching ma
terials which may be used in con
junction with science and socda
studies courses.

Air Lines. Eastern Air Lines, am

flights have been arranged.
Discussions and demonstration:

Retreat Planned
At Camp Long
The annual siring retreat of the
YM-YWCA and Student Christiqn
Associations from the different
colleges and' universities all over
South Carolina will be held April
28-25, 1954, at Camp Long, near
Aiken, South Carolina. The reg
istration, room and board for each
student amounts to $4.50. Trans
portation will be provided for all
students desiring to go. The pro
gram outlined for the weekend
includes recreation, discussion
groups, inspirational speakers and
worship.

over the Easter holidays for a
work party the community center

Air Force Unit
Will Be Saluted
By ABC Network
The University's Air - Force
ROTC unit will be saluted over
the American Broadcasting Com
pany's radio network April 17 at
8:05 p.m.
The entire two-hour program of
the "Saturday Night Dancing
Party" will be devoted to Caro
lina's Air Force ROTC unit.
It will feature the favorite songs
of the various squadrons of the
Cadet Wing. These songs were
determined by vote within the unit.
Each unit selected five songs. Of
the songs selected by the nine
squadrons, "Secret Love" was
chosen six times and "Wanted,"
five times.
Other items of interest about
the cadet corps and a few out
standing cadets will also be noted.
In Columbia this program is
carried over WCOS.
