State's Bob Mattson set one of the new records in the 150-yard medley, swimming it in 1:37.4 and the' relay team of Mattson, Fred Ruppenthal, Wilson James, and Sonia set a new 440 relay record of 3:40.2. The Gamecocks are hampered this season by inexperience. Mid (Ileton and Jack Hale have ap peared thus far to be the most consistant point-makers among the .wimnmers and diver Bill Peel looked very promising in taking first place against The Citadel. The old record of 11 was set by Jimmy Slaughter against Duke in the 1950-51 season. Smith's 20 at tempts from the foul line may be another record. Slaughter holds the season mark of 125 free throws as well as the records for most points in one game with 37 against Furman in 1950-51, most points in one season with 569 in 1950-51, most points in career, 1,512 from 1947 to 1951, best average in points per game with 22.8 in 1950-51, and most goals in one season with 222 in 1950-51.
