Dances, house parties, picnics and such still hold the lead as and yet there are no casualties from no sleep or worry from the approach ing storm. NEIGHBORING DANCES The Clemson Jr.-Sr. attracted many co-eds last week-end. JOAN RAFFIELD, ADPi, spent the week-end at Clemson for the big event as well as BETTY HOOD and HAZEL DUKES, DZ's, BILLIE BAXLEY, NANCY MOORHEAD and PENNY LLOYD, Pi Phi's. To the Pi Kappa Phi dance at PC traveled RAMONA SALLEY and LOUISE MATHEWS, Pi Phi's. TAM DUDLEY, KD, also had a very nice week-end at PC. This week-end will take DOT ANDERSON, DZ, down to Charleston for The Citadel Hop. TRAVELING CAROLINA JOE BROWN and BOB SANDERS, Lambda Chi's, at tended the State Track Meet at Clinton last week.- That couldn't have been just an excuse, could it? BOBBY BLED SOE, Lambda Chi, was the guest of JAN BATCHELOR at the home of her parents in Asheville, N. C. JUNE MARSHALL, REGINA OWENS, PEGGY O'NEALL, PUSH TINSLEY and GAY ARTHUR, ADPi's, spent the week-end at Myrtle Beach. Zeta Wins Derby; Jane Rutland Named Miss Venus The seventh annual Sigma Chi Derby Day was held May 7, with the Zetas edging out the Pi Phi's 20 to 19. Frank Epps was presid ing steward. Miss Shirley Martin was named 1953 Sweetheart with Harriet Moore and Mary Ann Erwin Maids of Honor. Mrs. Myrtle Mix son was the Sigma of Sigma Chi for this year, and Phil Waters was awarded a jeweled pin as the beat pledge. Bob Holmes was awarded the scholarship award and Cleve Laird was awarded the best senior award. The feature event of this year's Derby was the new Miss Venus Contest.
