Student Christian Group Convention is Next Week End Final plans for the annual Spring Retreat of the South Caro lina Student Christian Associa tion April 24, 25, 26 at Camp Long, near Aiken, South Carolina, have been formulated. Seven work shops or study groups will be fea tured at the conference. Students from 16 South Carolina colleges will be present for this state-wide organization which represents the combined efforts of student Chris tian groups on campuses through out the state. Rev. lain Wilson, professor of Religion at Davidson College, will cuide the thinking of the student delegates on the general subject "Let God Speak." Workshops have been planned to carry out the theme in study groups. A study group on social respon sibility, "Let God Speak in Your Community Life," will be led by Miss Mary Ann Bettis, director of the YWCA at Carolina. A grad uate of the University of Texas with an AB in Psychology, Miss Bettis has served in numerous student organizations. In addition to the worship pe riods at which Dr. Wilson will bring the principal addresses, there will be periods of private devo tions, private and group study, and periods of recreation. Rev. Mr. Rippy, who will lead the work shop on prayer, will direct the recreation periods. Colleges represented in the As sociation are Anderson College, Clemson College, Coker College, Columbia College, Converse Col lege, Erskine College, Furman University, Lander College, Lime stone College, Newberry College, Presbyterian College, Spartan burg Junior College, The Citadel, University of South Carolina, Win throp College and Wofford Col lege. Baptist Stu To Have Spi The Baptist Student Union at Clemson College and the Clemson Baptist Church will be hosts to the Hlaptist Student Union Spring Re treat to be held in Clemson on April 17, 18, and 19. Three hundred students from both junior and senior colleges and schools of nursing where BSU work is organized willattend. Mr. James L. Spangenberg, Minister of Baptist Students at Clemson, is serving as chairman of arrange ments. Mr. Ryan -Eklund of Fur man University and Orangeburg is State BSU President and will preside during the Retreat. The theme for the Spring Re treat which is primarily for the training of the new BSU officers for the next school year will be "We Believe-So We Act." Key note speaker on Friday night will be Dr. John Wayland, pastor of the First Baptist Church of 'North Wilkesboro, N. C. Speakers for the Saturday sessions will be Rev. Jack Robinson of Southwestern Baptist Seminary and former Olympic basketball star and Dr. Roy 0. McClain, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Orange burg. Rev. M. C. Macfie Anderson recognized April 10 as "Air Force ROTC Day" in Columbia, calling attention to the Air ROTC's unit at the university.
