fMARY MURRAY, Soetey Editor BET'Y JO LAND Te Wagon Wheel . . .a spoke a week By B. J. LAND Rush week, smokers, initiations, banquets, parties and dances-Looks like Carolina is really in swing. Socially, that is. With mid-term only two weeks off-well, I won't go into that! Among the outstanding events of the week was the KD dance and, of course, the houseparty. The dance was a big success. And where could they find a better spot for a house party than Ocean Drive? Among the "housepartying couples" were MARY BULL and BEN SAWYER, KA, CHRIS DUR HAM and JIMMY HUGHES, ATO; MACK HALFORD and "ANIMAL" BROWN, KA; and GWEN TOOTLE and LEWIS HOWELL, KA. The Sigma Nus held a drop-in March 8 for members and their dates. A few of the couples present were SYLVIA CAMPBELL, Pi Phi, and WES SANDERS; MARY EMRIE, ZTA, and NEULAND GOLLIER; NEDRA GILMORE, KD and BOB SMITH; MARY CALHOUN, Pi Phi, and MELVIN BURTON; and SARETTE FLAKE, ZTA, and BILL HAWLEY. The drop-in was chaperoned by Melvin's parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Burton. JEAN GUTHRIE, Chi 0, and BARD ALLISON, Sigma Nu, journeyed up to Philadelphia last week to visit Bard's parents. Following the Phi Kappa Sigma initiation everyone ad journed to a Phi Kappa Sigma vs. Pi Kappa Alpha basketball game, after which a dinner was held in honor of the new actives at the Market Restaurant. JOAN HARPER, Chi 0, and JERRY LYKE are planning their wedding for late this summer. The Beta Delta Chapter of Delta Zeta Sorority held initia tion ceremonies on Monday, March 2. The new active mem bers are DOT ANDERSON, JANET BOWDIDGE, HAZEL DUKE, BETTY ANN HOOD, and ROS LEVY. Seems Tri-Delts were traveling all over surrounding areas this past weel4. MARY ANN HOOD spent the week end at Woman's College in Greensboro. JANE CALHOUN, RETTA MORRISON, and SISSY FELDER went to Charleston while FRANCES LUMPKIN visited at Pawleys Island. The ATO's partied at the Woman's Club Friday, March 7. PAUL TRASK and MARGARET SIMS; BILL MAHONY and VIRGINIA CARMICHAEL, ADPi; CHARLIE WILSON and LYNN BOYKIN, Tri-Delt; and BEE BEELAND and SARA TOOLE, ADPi, were among those present. ATO's also held a party Saturday night, March 8, in honor of their ex-president, HENRY HUDSON. Attending this party in Charleston were JIMMY CHRISTIAN, BILL MAHONY, JOHNNY ROGERS, and RODY COLE. PEGGY O'NEAL, ADPi, HARRIET WHISENHUNT, ZTA, JANE ASBILL and JOYCE CAUDELL will leave for P. C. this afternoon to attend the Military Ball and the KA formal. EUGENIA HOLIDAY, ADPi, gave a drop-in for Mr. and Mrs. DICKlE TIMMS at their home on Howard Street Friday, March 6, from six to eight. MARVIS JEAN KEELS, ADPi alum, received a diamond last week end from FRANK HEMP HILL of Columbia. ZTAs held a banquet Saturday night, March 7, at the Market Restaurant in honor of the new actives. JANET CALLAHAN was presented the pledge ring and a cup as the best pledge. And speaking of best pledges, ANNE McCRAW received the honor for the KDs and LOUISE OWENS received the scholarship cup. Phi Kaps have really been going places! ROY MOODY, LARRIE BAILEY, and DAVE WA UGH went to the Southern Conference Basketball Tournament in Raleigh. DICK BOBO is in Daytona, Florida for the National Championship Motor cycle Races. And, as usual, D)ON EDNEY traveled to Rock Hill for the wveek-end. Then AL PALMER visited with pledge brother, W. C. COOK, in Augusta. Sig Eps and their dates seen at the KD formal were: BILL TODD and PEGGY DOUGLAS; BYRON TAPLEY and POLLY MISHOE ; and KEN FLYNN and MARY WIDEMAN, Chi 0. STAN HAMILTON visited JUDY ANDERSON, Chi 0, in Augusta, Georgia, last week end . . . Also journeying to At lanta last week end was .JIMMY FINLEY, Lambda Chi, who visited LIZ CRAIG. Especially busy was ALICE COULTER, who jour neyed to Rock Hill and Kingstree over the week end. Phi Epsilon Pi recently held a party at the Legion Hut and a stag at the Varsity Restaurant in honor of JACK BASS of North. It is to be held at the Woman's Club. Forest Lake Club was the scene of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon banquet-dance last night. Rushees To Meet In Sims Study Rushees are to meet today at 3 p.m. in the second floor study of Sims' dormitory. There they will receive bids from the sororities. The meeting climaxes a week of formal'rushing by sororities. Sunday and Monday afternoons were devoted to routine rush teas, while preferential parties were held on Tuesday, Wednes day and Thursday nights.
