AlleStatera Gamecock Johnny Peterson was chosen as one of the fnve 1953 All-State basketball players by coaches throughout the state. Peterson, a senior from Elkhart, Indiana, Is one of the best poatmnakers for the Birds and does most .of his shooting from the center pivot position, although his position varies from center to forward. Peterson's team 4 mates on the honor team are Frank Selvy, Farman; Ellerbe Neal, Wofford; Neild Gordan, Farman; and Paul Nye, Presbyterian. Intramural Trackmen Will Follow Training Rules Athletic Director Rex Enright has released an intramural training schedule to be followed by everyone wishing to participate in intramural track this year. The training pro gram was initiated in order that members of the team may condition themselves thoroughly before participating in events. The Gamecocks currently have a Swimmers to Skip Conference Meet Carolina's swimmers will not enter the Southern Conference meet this year, according to Coach Jimmy Ratliff. Plans for the state meet have also fallen through. The Gamecocks closed out their regular season last week with a win over Davidson, 50-84, and a loss to powerful North Carolina State, 46-37. Those two meets gave them a 4-7 record for the year. The Gamecock wins were over Clemson, The Citadel and Davidson, twice. Plans for the conference and state meets were discarded be cause the swimmers had missed so much time from classes. The Citadel didn't want to enter the state meet for the same reason.
