JACK WISE has been added to the list of Phi Sig fra ternity ..,. the Phi Sigs will also have a Rush Party Monday, Oct. 6, at the Rathskeller in the Jefferson Hotel. ROY BURBAGE, Sig Ep, pinned to PEGGY SHEALEY, of Winthrop.College. WENNIE and BILL PANTON had a son, WILLIAM ERROL, on Sept. 2 . .. they are at Fort Benning and expect to be transferred soon. I'm back again to present ny advice on all the new and some f the old records I think you night be interested in. Did you know that Patti Page's I Went to Your Wedding," be ame the top-selling record in Chi ago only ten days after it was re eased? Patti has made some won erful recordings. One of my avorites is "Tomorrow Night," nd I also think her renditions of With My Eyes Wide Open I'm >reaming" and "Confess" are eally tops. One of the cutest "pop" unes I've heard in a long time, iso by Patti Page was "Retreat," eleased about four or five months go. One of my favorite instruments the tenor sax, and I think Cole ian Hawkins new record, "I Can't ret Started," is a good example of ow the sax should be played. Cole ian Hawkins also has another reat record, "Wishin'," backed by Trust In Me." Both of these in trumentals are essentials for you Dllectors of jazz. Another good enor sax man is Illinois Jacquet. know most of you have heard him n the "Jazz at the Philharmonic" eries, volumes eight, nine and en, "Perdido," "Mordido," and Endido." Illinois now has a long laying record, Apollo label, ap ropriately named "Jam Session." 'hese records are all good, and if ou listen to them closely you'll ear one or two solos also played y Jacquet on "Endido." Nat "'King" Cole has a new elease called "I'm Never Satis ed." I haven't heard it yet, but it lives up to the high standards t by his popular recording Somewhere Along the Way," we'll on be hearing it on the Hit zrade. For you "Blues" fans, who also ce the Ravens, they have a new ecording called "Rock Me All ight Long," which has Jimmy ckey on the vocal. This record tes five stars in "Down Beat" you know its gotta be good. .nah Washington has a new ree d, "Half As Much" backed by a ythm-and-blues ballad called Ry Song." Another favorite instrumentalist mine is Earl Bostic. Some of his st recordings include "Flamingo," tollin' the Blues," and (if you'll trdon the expression) "Bar Fly sby." How did you like Frankie Laine's ew movie "Rainbow 'Round My houlder"? He sang that old ivorite "Shine," which is one of is oldest recordings. Frankie aine has made some other good scords, including "That's My 'esire" which, incidentally, was ne of his first hits, "I Get Senti iental Over Nothing," "All of [e," backed by "When You're milin'," and then, getting to his e w er r ele a se s, "Jezebel," Jealousy," "Flameneo" and "Sui arbush."
