In an effort to orient the unini

dictionary of terms apt to be
heard in murmured (or shouted)
conversations in the Canteen, on
the campus, and in the dear ole
dorm. A glossary if you will.

the opportunity to see all the old

Music Strictly
Off The Record
By MICKEY YOUNG
For you movie fans, there is a
wonderful twelve-inch long-playing
record released by RCA Victor,
which features theme music from
your favorite motion pictures,
"Duel in the Sun," "Spellbound,"
"Lost Weekend," and several other
themes are included in this out
standing collection.
A good record for you gals who
like "dreamy" music is one, also
of the long-playing variety, by
Freddy Gardner. Included on this
disc is the all-time favorite "Body
and Soul," and the ever popular
"I'm in the Mood for Love." The
late Freddy Gardner, an English
man, is recognized as one of the
world's greatest saxaphonists. He
is accompanied by Peter Yorke in
four of the six numbers featured
in the collection.

a Singer?7 Ray Anthony has a new
release appropriately entitled
"Marilyn" to honor the occasion.
The song was introduced at a party
given in Marilyn's honor.
Attention all jazz fans! Arnett
Cobb, formerly with Lionel Hamp
ton's band as featured saxaphonist,
now has his own combo. Their
latest release is a great jazz ver
sion of "Cocktails for Two," with
"Walkin' Home" on the flip side.
There is also * long-playing record,
Apollo label, featuring some blast
ing tenor sax solos by Cobb, aided
by the rest of tie combo. One of
the outstanding pieces on the disc
is "Dutch Kitchen Bounce" saluting
Cornell University's " D u t c h
Kitchen."
The record being played the most
in the canteen is "You Belong to
Me" by Jo Stafford, "Walkin' My
Baby Back Home" by Johnny Ray.
This is one of the few records re
leased by Johnny without the ever
familiar crying. Some more records
in the way of "pop" tunes are,
"Halt as Much" by Rosemary
Clooney, "Maybe" by Eddie Fisher
and Perry Como, "Jambalaya," the
hill-billy version being by Hank
Williams, and the popular by Jo
Stafford. "Auf' Weidershen," sung
by Eddy Howard, is also collecting
