"The hounds of Spring are on Winter's traces," and the
rabid dogs are invading the Campus. . . . Beware!
Here are some more holiday news items which are a hang
over from last week: JACKIE HOILE spent a few pleasant
days in Montgomery, Alabama. Also on the trail to Alabama
was BOBBIE EARLY. Returning undrowned from the smog
in Pittsburgh were DICK POLEN and JUAN EVANEGA.
Speaking of long-distance trips, it is reported from some dis
tant planet that NEDRA and GLORIA GILMORE, KD's,
floated down to Bermuda.
LOU KIDDER, Tri Delt, is engaged to DAISE GADS
DEN of Charleston.
The Pi Kappa Phi's had a shrimp and beer party at ROY
EARGLE's house at Lake Murray.
The Phi Ep's had a party in the Rainbow Room of many
colors on Wednesday night.
In town for the Hillel Dance last Saturday were Phi Ep
alums: RAY ROSENBLUM, JOSEPH SPANIER, DON
CHARPE ... a real homecoming weekend, eh ?!
From the wine vine flows the news that AL MAZANIK
has broken his contract with the Dallas Rangers so he can
stay here with BETSY JONES.
The Phi Kappa Sigma's had a house party at Myrtle Beach
over the holidays. Those gathering ultra violet rays include:
JOE BULL with LOU DRAKE; FOOTSIE FIELDS with
SUE HAWKINS; PHRINESS COX with PAT DAVIS; JIM
ALFORD with LUCILE ROGERS; JOHNNY HERIN with
ROBERTA SIMMONS; PERRIN THOMPSON with
ELEANOR DURANT; BOB TEAGUE with BECKY REED;
BOBBY OLIVER with BETTY ANN STALVEY; DON ED
NEY with MARY ANN BURNS. With all that, there was
enough sun left for the rest of us???
The Kappa Phi's will roast weiners tonight at the "Y"
Camp.
MARILYN (Miss Baseball, 1952) DOUGLAS and TOM
MIE HERBERT, both ZTA's, are going mountain climbing
this weekend. . . . Always thought those two were rising
young women.
More belated Easter news: JERRY ROLLINS and RON
NIE (NO DREAM) STREEM made a tour of the United
States and outlying distriets, and ended up in Detroit with
the Pharmacy Students.
From the Sigma Nu's comes this news, if you'll pardon
the rime: LOUIS HAIGLER, Sigma Nu alum, married SUE
SUTTON Saturday night. Those Sigma Nu's serving as
groomsmen included: BERT JESSUP, JERRY BLACKMON,
PAUL (Is it going to be nice enough so I can go fishing?)
FIELD, and BARD ALLISON. Other Fraters attending com
prised of CLARK and AL ADIKS, FRANK OWEN, and
JOHN SMITH.
ARCHIE COKER and EARL REDMAN, Sigma Nu's,
underwent Hell Week last week. . . . Have you people never
heard of being kind to animals??
The Independent girls are having a party at Sunview Lake
on Saturday. . . . Happy swimming! -
The ZTA's are having a Drop-In Sunday night from
eight to nine. Also, the KD's are planning a Drop-In at the
same time, same station.
The Journalism Department had a party Wednesday night
at the "Y" Camp to promote friendship and bigger news
papers.
The International Relations Club had a fete last Tues
day night.
BILLY RENFROW, Kappa Sig, has pinned MOLLY Mc
GOWAN, Tri Delt. Another item from the same tells us
that JOHN JACKSON ascended to North Carolina for the
weekend.
Speaking of North Carolina, that's where the baseball
team was headed for last Wednesday. It is rumored that
they went to Raleigh for some reason or other.
C'est tout for new, my monsters; more ghoulish gossip

pleted remodeling their fraternity
house. They have put tile on the
floor, put in new steps, painted, put
in new light fixtures, and also a
few miscellaneous things.

ments.
Panhellenic Sets
Stunt Night For
Fall Semester
Panhellenic Council voted Tues
day and at a called meeting a week
ago to present their annual stunt
night in the fall semester rather
than the spring.
A tentative date for stunt night
has been set for the second week
of December.
Funds derived from the stunt
night will go into a Panhellenic
Council-Coed Association' scholar
;hip fund for a Formosa student
who will study graduate English
it the university next fall.
Rush week was set for the first
week of November. (I. F. C. and
all fraternities take heed, con
3idering yourself forewarned.)
The new officers of Panhellenic
Council will take office at the
next meeting-May 13th. The
Dresident of Panhellenic is elected
Crom the council; other offices are
rotated among the sororities ac
ording to the foundings on the
ampus.
Offices for next year will go to
zeta Tau Alpha, vice-president;
Kappa Delta, secretary; and Pi
Beta Phi, treasurer.
The possibility of establishing
mother Panhellenic sorority on the
.arolina campus was discussed.
Phi Kaps Plan
Costume Ball
Phi Kappa Sigma will hold its
mnnual costume ball from 8 until
,2 tomorrow night at the Hotel
refferson.
This gala event has become a
ierennial favorite with the Phi
Kaps and promises many gay cos
:umes.

The Cotillion Club at the univer
a sity will sponsor its annual spring
dance tonight at the Jefferson
hotel. The dance will begin at S
p. m. and last until 1 a. m.
Officers for the organization are

Timms, vice-president; Hank Ful
mer, secretary; and William Rowe,
treasurer.
The club invites new members
each year so that their membership
does not exceed 100 men.
