...a spoke a week...

Starting off with the various exchanges of pins, we have
BILL BURRILL, K Sig, pinning "PINKY" EPTING. Also,
BUBBA GODFREY, KA, pinned JOAN SIMPSON, KD alum,
last weekend in Florence.
ERNEST HARTMAN represented Sigma Chi at a re
gional convention in Chattanooga, Tenn., weekend before last.
Members of Alpha Tau Omega attempted to initiate the
visiting Cuban students into the mysteries of ATO's parties
and partying.
Sigma Nu's and dates partied last Friday night at Mor
ris' Lodge. This fine weather has provided ample opportunity
for them to party. Never let it be said that the Sigma Nu's
didn't take advantage of the partying chance.
Parties tomorrow night and during the coming week in
clude the Phi Epsilon Pi's at Heise's Pond; Phi Sigma Kappa
at Warren's Lake (an all day affair, starting at 2 and lasting
until 12) ; and of course, the ODK banquet and the Cotillion
Club dance.
PAUL HRYSKANICH of Elmira Heights, N. Y., was
pledged by Phi Kappa Sigma recently. Phi Sigma Kappa
pledged PETE GOSNELL Monday night; and Kappa Sigma
pledged MARION LEE Monday night.
GINNY STEVENSON, Tri Delt, is going to Charleston
this week-end for a Tri Delt dance at College of Charleston.
"CANDY BOY" and his orchestra furnished the music for
a cabaret dance given by Delta Sigma Pi, national business
fraternity, last Saturday night in the Woman's Club. The
dance was in honor of new members (whose names were not
sent inh and alumni. Rushees were invited.
Partying in Lexington weekend before last were the
Sigma Chi's. A weiner roast, no less.
A D Pi ELLEN BARKER is engaged to Robert Peters,
Lambda Chi.
ATO's joining the Tri Delts in the "Holy City" (?) were
RUPIE DREWS, IUME GUERARD, SKIP CRIDDLE,
HENO HUTSON, FRANK FORD, and WILL MIDDLETON.
Kappa Sigs on recent houseparties have been FRANNIE
TALBERT with B. J. McLEAN, ADPi; GENE McELVEEN
with "MOTT" CAMBELL, ADPi; MARVIN McMILLAN and
PATSY KLEECKLEY, ZTA; PETE LANE with MRS.
PETE; also, "RED" GIBSON, and ALICE "DOC" GATES,
Pi Phi, JACK WILLIAMSON, Delta Upsilon from Iowa State,
with BARBARA BAUGH; BOB DAVIS with MARGARET
BURCH and MR. and MRS. J. C. INABINET.
Visiting JACKIE STUKES, ZTA, last weekend in Davis
Station were MARGARET ANN EVERTON, ISABELLE
DOUGLAS, and MARILYN GETTYS, ZTA.
Chi O's submitted the following: JOE SAVITZ, KA, has
been going to Spartanburg frequently recently.
Going to Converse this weekend will be Kap Sigs DIT
RUTLEDGE, FRED BROWN, and FRANK LUKISKI (from
Wake Forest).
FRANK NELSON, Sigma Nu, travelled last week to Troy
and Montgomery, Ala. He covered some distance to see that
girl (and I quoted).
Canterbury Convention a couple of weekends ago was at
tende dby HARRY BULL, and JOE EASIEY, both ATO's.
MARTHA HARRISON and BETTY CATHICART, both
D)elta Zeta's, went to the beach last weekend.
Alpha Phi Omega had an initiation banquet at the Mar
ket last Saturday night. AL LANE received the APhi Omega
distinguished service key. Congratulations !
JIM HIANNA, Pi Kap, was elected vice-pr1esident of~ the
American Institute of Chemical Engineers last weekend in
North Carolina State. BILL BURRELL, Kap Sig, and BILL
WILKINSON, Pi Kap, also represented Carolina.
Phi Epsilon Nu, journalism fraternity, will have a party
May 1 for freshmen who will enter journalism next fall.
Blue Key's banquet will be Monday night at the Wade
Hampton Hotel.
Kap Sigma's had a weiner roast at Sunview lake \Ved
nesday night.
ALICE GATES, Pi Phi, visited Hageni Acres in Georgia
last weekend.
Phi K(aps were visited by two pledges from Ga. Tech.
JOHN OVERTON, Missouri, and DICK JOHNSON, Georgia,
were here on a pledge project.
Not to be outdone, BOB OLIVER, Phi Kap, visited Win
throp last weekend. Don't think it was a pledge project
though.
Lambda Chi Alpha held an all day party last Saturday' at
Pinewood Club. Fine time!
Last item on my desk is a note to the Society Editor
(MARLENE RAST) and I quote: "Darling, je vous aime
beaucoup. Je ne sais pas what to (10!" I knowv what it means;
wonder who wrote it, though.

USC Cotillion Club
Presents Annual
Ball At Jefferson
The Cotillion Club of the uni
versity will present its annual
spring cabaret dance tonight at the
Jefferson hotel from nine until one.
Clarence Brazell and his orches
tra will furnish the music. Of
ficers of the Cotillion Club are:
president, Howard Pettit; vice
president, Henry Nelson; secre
tary, Billy Thompson; treasurer,
Red Gibson; and dance chairman,
Fred Juniper.
Festival Feature
Glenn and List,
Present Concert
Carroll Glenn, violinist, and Eu
gene List, pianist, will perform to
night as a featured attraction of
the annual Spring music festival.
Their concert, the last of the music
season, will be held at the Town
ship Auditorium.
Miss Glenn, a native South Caro
linian, first studied music at the
university. Eugene List, her hus
band, was born in Philadelphia, Pa.
He first won world-wide acclaim
as the "Potsdam pianist" who
played for the important meeting
of the Big Three.
Tickets for the concert are now
on sale at the Music Festival head
quarters in the Arcade building.

Roy Lind, graduate of the uni
versity school of law, will have one
of the leading roles in "The Voice
of the Turtle" by John Van Dru
ten. This play will be staged at
the Town Theatre May 9-15.
"The Voice of the Turtle," story
of the romance of a soldier in New
York, played for several years on
Broadway. It has also been made
into a movie.

Convention 71
Beta Omicron capter of Zeta
Tau Alpha will be co-hostesses with
their alumni group at a bi-annual
convention of Alpha Province. The
convention will be April 27, 28, 29.
Attending the meetings will be
members from seven other colleges,
alumni groups throughout the
province, and province and nation
al officers.
A short welcome party will be
held for the visitors Friday night
in the chapter room at the univer
sity in Sims dormitory. Sigma
Chi's at the university will enter
tain at that time.
Friday morning at 9:30 will be
the opening business session. From
10 until 12 there will be two dis
cussion groups in the ZTA and Pi
Beta Phi rooms.
A luncheon at the Wade Hamp
ton hotel will follow at 12:30.
Rushing rules and parties will
be discussed in the afternoon; first,
in two discussion groups; then, in
a meeting of alumni and college
members.
A tea will be given by the
hostesses at the home of Mrs. J.
Drake Edens. National, province
and chapter officers will be in the
receiving line.
Dr. Honeycup of the Ebenezer
Lutheran Church will be the guest
speaker at the formal banquet
Saturday night in the Wade Hamp
ton Hotel. Miss Helen Harrison,
national council president, will
speak also.
A final business session will be
held Sunday morning in the chap
ter room.
