PiKA Dream Girl
Will Be Crowned
At Ball Tonight
Xi chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha
will hold its biennial Dream Girl
Formal tonight at the ballroom of
the Jefferson hotel from 9 'til 1.
Woody Woodward and his orches
tra will furnish the music.
At the end of the Grand March,
the 1951 Dream Girl of Pi Kappa
Alpha will be announced. She will
be presented a beautiful cup by the
national vice-president of Pi Kappa
Alpha, L. A. McCall.
Preceding the dance the mem
hers, pledges, and alumni of PiKA
will be honored with a drop-in given
by Mr. and Mrs. S. K. Abbott and
Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Carter at the
English Room of the Hotel Co
lumbia. Another drop-in will be
held at intermission at the Jeffer
In the (;rand March, the spon
sors will be carrying arm bouquets
of red roses. The dates of PiKA's
will wear corsages of two gardenias
and during the special no break
for l'iKA's, the dates will be pre
sented favors.
l'i Kappa Alpha is a national
social fraternity with 100 active
chapters and 85 alumni chapters
with a membership of 40,000. It
was -fcunded at the University of
'Virginia on Sunday, March 1, 1868.
Frosh Y Will Toss
Party Sat. At Camp
The freshman "Y" will give a
party for members of the fresh
m1an class at the "Y" camp Satur
.a afternoi. Th icstivities will
hegii at 5 p. m. Everyone planning
to attend is asked to meet at Flinn
hull where transportation will be
provided.
The program will begin with a
softball contest between the girls
and boys after which refreshments
will be served. Next on the agenda
will be round and square dancing.
Vespers service will conclude the
evening outing.
The freshman "Y" meets every
Monday at 1 p. m. in Flinn hall; a
luncheon is always served. The
mneetings are open to all freshmen.

madte by Mr. Joe Lawvrence, head
of the university post office, for
diistibuLtionu of the cards for the
WLUSC campus listing poll. These
cardls will be placed in each post
offlice box some time today. Please
check program type preference and
druop the card in the WUSC box in
the post office lobby.

fond affection to the memory of
the late, lamented Peter Cottontail.
This worthy rabbit made his home
in the vicinity of the station for
yea these many years; but alas, he
has gone the wvay of those who
leave the wvorld forever. Mr'. Cot
l'"ntail was duly interred with all
theI( dignity and sentiment due one
of' his loyalty to these premises.
The interment is suitably marked
with an inscribed headpiece and Is
to the right of the front walk of
the station.
In case anyone is wondering
about the loudapeakers on the walls
in the infirmary, the station had
them p)ut there so the patients
could hear' WUSC while con
valescing. A fter four' hours of hard
labor, the engineering staff in
stalled a line to the Infirmary to
feed sound to the speakers.

WUSC announcers at WVIS Studio
each week.
Another expression of gratitude
is extended to the telephone opera
tors in Maxcy for their prompt
and consistent service during re
quest shows.
Finally, after much searching,
WUSC has acquired an instru
mental version of "Flow Gently,
Sweet Afton," which is the music
for the university's Alma Mater.
The use of this recording has not
yet been decided, but it may be
used as a sign-off theme.

standing in the school.
The Order of the Wig and Robe,
university honorary legal frater
nity, had its inception in the fall
f 1935. At that time there existed
in the Law school of the university
no society of an honorary nature.
The Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity
did have a chapter in the Law
school at that time which had been
established originally on an honor
ary basis but had changed its policy
and had become purely a social or
ganization.
A new organization, Wig and
Robe, was established in 1936
which was to have as its sole pur
pose the encouragement of legal
scholarship by bestowing upon the
outstanding iegal scholars in each
class some outward symbol of their
achievement. This organization
was to be devoid of political and
social jealousies and was to take
its members on a basis of scholastic
achievement alone.
A petition was presented to the
faculty for official sanction of this
group and a constitution was drawn
up. The seniors in the Law school
at that time were approached and
all accepted the invitation. On
Friday, March 27, 1936. the first
official meeting of the Order was
held. The charter members of the
society were: Thomas Moore of
Lykesland, Julian Salley of Aiken,
Irving Levkoff and Sylvan Rosen
of Columbia, and William Douglas
of Florence.
